In Type Soul, you’ll get to experience and engage in various PvE and PvP contents. However, you may not know what you need to do when you first get into the game. Some players even struggle with the controls since they don’t know how they work.

There are many other things that you will need to learn along the way as you progress in the game. However, in this guide, we’ll guide you through how you can get started by obtaining a role or race to start progressing as well as ways to gain EXP.

Basic Controls

In this game, the controls are quite unique. Beside the usual A, S, D, and W keys you use to move around, the game will require you to remember some of the keys as well. If you look down below, you’ll be able to see the keys to perform various actions in-game. Try your best to memorize these since they are the key to helping you play the game better!

  • Left Alt – Shift-lock
  • Ctrl + K – Hollow transformations/Mask rip
  • J – Shikai
  • Ctrl + J – Bankai/Second Resurrección
  • Shift + Q – Flashstep (Toggleable)
  • Q – Dash
  • Z X C – Shikai Moveset
  • T G – Bankai Moveset
  • R – Critical
  • N – Inventory/Skill tree
  • M – Meditate
  • P – Purify Lost Soul
  • B – Grip/Eat if Hollow
  • V – Carry
  • Comma – Toggle map markers inside Soul Society

Obtaining Races

When you first get into the game, you will be put in a spawn area. This is when the game gives you a Human Race to start the game with. As a Human, you will have little to no effects and you will need to obtain a new Race to start progressing into the game.

Then, you will need to become a Lost Soul. In order to do this, you’ll have to die by engaging in combat with a Hollow NPC or an actual player in-game. When you’ve become a Lost Soul, you are going to be able to choose out of the three main races. (Hollow, Quincy and Soul Reaper)

Type Soul: Complete Beginner's Guide Lost Soul

In order to become a Hollow, you will need to press Ctrl + K as a Lost Soul. If you ever decide not to turn into a Hollow, you can choose to not press this key combination. Instead, you can choose to do other tasks to obtain other roles. There may be other players in-game telling you to press Ctrl + K to become a Hollow. You can do it if you want to, as long as you are going to like the class you’re playing as!

Hollow Type Soul

If you want to turn into a Quincy, you’ll need to go to this one location in the City. When you first spawn, you’ll be put in this one location so you’ll only need to go around and find a portal. You will want to find this portal at xx:10 and xx:40. This portal has one blue flooring on the side and a darker blue to the left of it.

Portal Type Soul

Keep it in mind that this portal will only be opened for 10 minutes each time it opens. Once you spawn into the next area, keep moving forward until you see a statue. Near the Statue, you’ll be able to find a Worshipper NPC. Then, finish the conversation and you’ll be able to obtain your Quincy Race.

Worshipper Type Soul

To obtain Soul Reaper or sometimes called “Shinigami” you must find someone who is already a Soul Reaper. Then, you’ll need to ask that player to perform an action to bless or purify you as a Lost Soul. Other than that, you can also complete a mission called the “Shinigami” quest.

Reaper Type Soul

Starter Progression Method

As you play, you’ll need to level up along the way in order to become stronger. For ranking, there are 5 Categories you need to do when it comes to quests. They are Mission EXP, Division EXP, Shikai EXP, Player Grips and Raid Grips. Keep it in mind that you can only obtain Division and Shikai EXP as Soul Reapers.

As a Hollow, you’ll need to defeat other Hollow NPCs or even other players to progress. By defeating these opponents, you’ll be able to gain some EXP from this one task. You can also do missions and other things as well to level up!

That is some of the most basic information for you as a Beginner in Type Soul. In this game, you’ll get to select one of the three races currently available. There may be more races for you to experience in the future so your options will probably be even more varied. However, keep it in mind that the race you select will be permanent unless you find a Soul Ticket.

As you progress, there will be more things that you will need to learn about. These systems are quite easy for you to understand so as long as you have the basics of the game in mind, you’ll be able to progress and become stronger just fine!
