Clover Retribution has a lot of grimoires that you can roll for, and they each excel at different forms of content, but the main thing is that they are usually sought after for their ability to deal raw damage. In this tier list, we will be ranking all of the grimoires in the game based on their general damage output, and you probably won’t be too surprised about a lot of these.
Best Magic Damage Tier List
Before we begin, it should be noted that this is list might not be completely accurate in the future if or when the developers decide to buff or nerf certain grimoires. Luckily, they seem to be fine with the power creep.
With that in mind, let’s start ranking every single grimoire currently in the game starting from the best going down to the worst ones!
S Tier
- Light (Mythic) – The Light magic grimoire is the latest addition to the game and it has insane damage output, especially with a maxed character and proper items. Its only weakness is the fact that its abilities cost a lot of mana to cast.
- Wind (Uncommon) – Even though around half of its abilities are more on the support or defense side, its offensive spells lowkey deal a ton of damage and can be very disruptive in the case of the Tornado skill.
- Void (Legendary) – Tons of burst damage in its entire kit, and you can stack a lot of Gloom quickly, further increasing how much you deal to nearby enemies. Void Zone also gives you a very powerful temporary damage buff as long as you stay within the circle.
- Flame (Epic) – The Flame grimoire has a very straightforward and easy to use kit, which gives it extra points towards its ranking. Overall, its damage output can be pretty insane, especially when you also have a 100% Burn uptime during a fight.
- Blood (Mythic) – Just like the Flame grimoire, Blood magic is very straightforward and has a ton of damage potential. It also has a bunch of skills that pretty much have some form of auto aim, making it incredibly easy to master.
A Tier
- Lightning (Epic) – This grimoire has the potential to be in the top tier, but it misses out as your mileage with it may vary depending on how good you can setup your abilities and how lucky you are with the extra damage from the Shocked status.
- Water (Legendary) – Although this is more of a support and utility focused grimoire, its damage output is pretty darn good because of how annoying or disruptive its abilities can be. This is especially true if the user can cast gigantic whirlpools with Maelstrom Surge.
- Time (Mythic) – The offensive abilities of this grimoire have a particularly short cooldown, which kind of makes its damage output lean more towards the high end of the spectrum. Coupled with the fact that Temporal Flick has several ticks of damage, Time magic lowkey slaps.
- Dice (Rare) – This grimoire is honestly really hard to rank properly because it is basically like playing a slot machine with how completely reliant it is on RNG, as you’d expect even from the name alone. We’re putting it up here because it has the potential to be really powerful.
- World Tree (Mythic) – The World Tree grimoire mainly excels in support and debuffing, but do not sleep on the damage hat its few offensive skills can do. Not only does it deal a lot of damage, but it can root enemies in place, making them much more vulnerable to attacks.
B Tier
- Sand (Mythic) – The Sand grimoire is tailored towards more defensive playstyles. To balance out its insane defensive capabilities, its offensive options are pretty weak in comparison to everything else so far. It is still far from the worst, though.
- Earth (Uncommon) – Even though its abilities can deal a decent amount of damage, they are pretty hard to hit consistently due to how slow the cast times and animations can be. Because of this, it falls just behind Sand.
C Tier
- Slime (Rare) – The Slime grimoire does do some okay damage, but its abilities are very underwhelming and probably even slower than Earth magic in some cases. Pretty bad in terms of DPSing, but somehow still not the worst.
- Spatial (Mythic) – This one is more of a utility grimoire and isn’t really used for dealing damage. It is amazing at what it does, though, which is transport you across the map and give you access to the Spatial Laboratory.
- Melody (Common) – Melody magic requires too much setup and does too little damage overall, especially if you take into consideration the time investment you’ll need to put in so that you can maximize its output.
- Healing (Common) – Hands down the worst when it comes to damaging, and I don’t think anything has to be explained here. It’s literally called Healing magic, so it would be really funny if they update it to actually let you deal damage with it.
And that concludes this tier list, which shows you some sleeper hits and some hilariously obvious bottom tier grimoires when it comes to dealing damage.
