In this guide, I’ll walk you through everything you need to know, from finding Cthulhu’s lair to taking him down efficiently. Whether you’re going solo or bringing a crew, I’ve got tips, strategies, and insider knowledge to make sure you don’t end up as fish food for some angry octopus.

Cthulu Boss Guide

Cthulhu’s lair is tucked away on Terrapin Island, a spot east of the main hub in First Sea. Getting there is straightforward. You can either sail manually or, if you’re lucky, use fast-travel to cut down on time. Once you arrive, keep an eye out for the Sea Traveler NPC. He’s standing near a massive stone door, which definitely looks important. That’s because it is. This is your way in.

To actually enter Cthulhu’s lair, you’ll need to meet a few requirements. First, you must be at least level 200. If you’re not there yet, time to grind. Once you’ve got that covered, talk to the Sea Traveler NPC. He’ll give you access to the entrance. Step inside, and you’ll be met with a cutscene of cultists worshipping something… unsettling. Stand in the ritual circle, wait exactly two minutes, and then it’s go time. Cthulu awakens, and the fight begins. Now, I’ll give you pointers and info about the Chtulu bossfight!

How to Defeat Cthulhu

This isn’t your typical hack-and-slash boss fight. Cthulu has a unique mechanic tied to his health bar. Instead of just wailing on him, you need to pay attention to the color-coded sections of his HP. His health bar is split into six colors—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. You can only deal damage when your attacks match the current color phase. This is where things get tricky.

At the start of the fight, grab the Keeper’s Torch. This is your main weapon in this battle. But here’s the catch: you have to constantly change its color to match Cthulu’s health bar. If his health bar is red, you need to find the red lantern in the arena, activate it, and attack. As you chip away at his health, the color will shift, meaning you have to move to the next corresponding lantern. This continues until you cycle through all six colors.

Sounds easy? Not quite. Reaching each lantern involves some tricky platforming. Miss a jump, and you could fall, which might cost you the fight entirely. To make things even harder, Cthulhu doesn’t just sit around and let you do your thing. He has some seriously devastating attacks, including a massive energy beam that feels almost impossible to dodge, summoned tentacles that block your path, and shockwaves that can throw you off balance. This is why teamwork can make a huge difference. While the fight is doable solo, bringing a group of up to five players makes it significantly more manageable.

What Happens After You Beat Cthulhu?

If you manage to survive and land the final hit against Cthulu A new portal appears, leading to an entirely different area. This is the gateway to the Second Sea. If you’ve been wondering how to access it, this is the answer.

Once you step through, you’ll find yourself in a brand-new region with tons of fresh content. There’s a new currency system, unique fish species to catch, and an overhauled rod system that changes up fishing entirely. It’s like Fisch took a page out of Blox Fruits and introduced a multi-sea progression system. If you thought the First Sea was fun, wait until you see what’s waiting for you in the Second Sea.
