With Elden Ring Nightreign, players can now face off different bosses alongside other players via unique rogue like elements. However, at the end of expeditions, you will need to fight extremely difficult bosses known as Nightlords. These bosses can absolutely wipe the floor with you – and can destroy teams even with experienced players. One such boss you will face is Libra, Creature of Night, which appears in the Equilibrious Beast expedition. In this guide, we’ll go over the boss’s weaknesses so that you can defeat it easily. With that said, let’s dive in!

Equilibrious Beast Boss Weaknesses

Libra, Creature of Night, is the ultimate challenge that you’ll face at the end of the Equilibrious Beast expedition. Defeating him grants you the Night Of The Demon relic, which gives you discounts at shops during expeditions and neat bonuses related to the Madness effect.

Interestingly, this is one of the only Nightlords that has one phase. But do not take him lightly because he will throw all manners of spells that will build up Madness and devastate your HP in no time. However, with some preparation, teamwork and skills you should be able to defeat him.

Keep in mind that Libra’s main weakness is also Madness.

Preparation – Classes & Gear

Defeating Libra relies strongly on teamwork and working together, no to mention choosing the right weapons. You’ll also want to bring along extra items that will help you further weaken him.

Step 1: Bring A Team (If You Can)

Starting off, we recommend that you bring along teammates to the expedition that you can actually work with. Libra emphasizes teamwork a lot because he regularly targets single targets throughout the fight. With the right coordination, your teammates will be able to punish him until he changes his target.

Step 2: Select The Right Class

If you’re bringing along a team, we recommend choosing a variety of classes, which help fulfill the role of a support, melee and ranged role. This is because Libra can get quite unpredictable with its spells at times and you’ll want to have all the tools at your disposal.

In our case, we went with the Revenant because she can summon allies that will distract Libra. This makes her an excellent choice for solo play too if you do not know your teammates. I was able to defeat Libra as a Revenant with a bow while my allies went full melee.

Step 3: Choose The Right Weapons

Before going into the fight with Libra, you should have one of the following two weapon options:

  • Melee Weapons: If you’re going with melee weapons, you should have at least a Rare (purple) or Legendary (Gold) weapon before you enter the boss arena. Melee weapons will definitely be harder, but manageable if you get a hang of the boss mechanics
  • Ranged Weapons: For ranged weapons, be sure to have at least a Rare (Purple) bow with you. You’ll want to bring along a purple smithing stone, just so you have convert your bow to a purple one before the boss fight.

Libra is a boss the deals constant Madness related spells. However, Libra is also weak against Madness – which makes Madness dealing weapons extremely valuable. Unfortunately, Madness weapons are extremely rare in Elden Ring Nightreign – which is why relying on them is not a viable strategy.

But if you can get your hands on them, it will be so much better.

Step 4: Bring Along Extra Items

While Libra’s main weakness is Madness, he is still weak to other effects like Lightning, Fire, Slash and Holy. So, be sure to bring along extra items that you can do to apply these effects.

In our case, we brought along a couple of Lightning Greases, which certainly did help with the fight.

Additionally, you want to level up your HP and bring along as many Flask Charges as you can. If you do get the Madness effect, it will deal devastating damage that could easily one shot you!

Before The Fight – Deal Or No Deal

When you enter the boss arena, Libra will initially appear as the Scale Bearing Merchant. When you interact with him, you will be given a choice from a random pool of buffs. If you accept the buff, it will give you a negative effect in return.

While it may be tempting to accept his offer, we recommend refusing to make a deal. This is because some of these effects can negate all the preparation that you did. By refusing the deal, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect.

Of course, if there is a buff that’s too good to pass on, then by all means go for it.

Fight Strategy

Libra, Creature of Night, has only one phase. But he has a huge variety of attacks that he will pull out throughout the entire fight. Let’s take a look at the main ones, so you know how to deal with them!

Punish Libra’s Aggression

Libra only focuses on one teammate at a time, relentlessly pursuing them with his attacks before shifting his focus. During these situations, the other teammates should take the opportunity to dish out as much damage as they can – especially during his melee attacks.

This is where the Revenant shines as she can summon allies to further distract Libra. Using a bow also helps as you’ll be able to shoot him from range and avoid his aggressive melee attacks. If you use melee weapons, you’ll have a much harder time finding openings – since he can punish you back.

Dodge His Spells (Counter Madness)

Throughout the entire fight, Libra will dish out a variety of spells that deal devastating damage and inflict the Madness debuff. Here are the main spells and how you can avoid them:

  • Rain Of Light: Libra summons a ball that fires beams of light all around
    • Counter: Go under the ball or keep at a distance from Libra
  • Glyph Of Light: Libra summons glyphs on the floor that explore after some time
    • Counter: Sprint out of the glyph when it is about to explode
  • Lightstorm Glyph: Libra summons a glyph in front of him that shoots out projectiles
    • Counter: Move away from the direction the glyph is facing because it cannot move.
  • Ground Explosion: Libra kneels and hits the ground twice. The second hit causes an explosion.
    • Counter: Dodge roll the moment the second hit lands.
  • Frenzied Lava: Golden lava shoots out in an AoE cone from where Libra shoves the ground
    • Counter: Run away so that you are out of the AoE
  • Frenzied Sky: Libra raises its hands and causes flames to rain down from above
    • Counter: Look at the sky for visual cues of flames. Avoid standing below them to dodge the attacks.

Besides these spells, Libra also has a variety of melee attacks. As you can see, with so many attacks, you will need to master his patterns of attacks and be able to dodge them as effectively as possible. This is why using a bow is recommended so you can keep out of the way.

If you do manage to get hit by his spells, your Madness meter will slowly start to fill. To counter this Madness, you will need to pick up Madness Crystals that spawn regularly on the floor. Doing so will cause the meter to fall.

Break His Shield

One of Libra’s major spells is the Shield of Madness, which allows him to absorb all damage. During this spell, sigils will appear all around him. Your goal is to break three sigils so that you can end the spell and inflict Madness on him.

Counter to what most players believe, you do not need to actually hit or swing the sigils. You can simply roll or run through them to break them.

Inflicting Madness on Libra is a good thing because he stops using his spells and starts blindly using his melee attacks. This makes him more predictable and easy to punish because his attacks get much more basic.

Additional Tips

Here are some additional tips that will make the Equilibrious Beast boss fight much easier:

  • Punish Libra during his melee attacks instead of during spells
  • Keep at a distance from him as much as you can to avoid his AoE spells
  • Master dodging as his spells can be absolutely devastating
  • Keep a constant eye on the Madness meter – as you can get easily one shot if it fills up.

That’s everything you need to know about defeating the Equilibrious Beast boss and his weaknesses in Elden Right Nightreign. As you can see, quite a challenging boss fight that will have you constantly dodging. However, he certainly has his weaknesses that you can capitalize on.

The main thing is that you need to perfect your dodges. Since the attacks will be the same throughout, perfecting your dodges will allow you to avoid all the spells. From there, it is just a rinse and repeat of all the tips we gave you. Hopefully, you’re able to get good teammates that will make the fight much easier!
