Have you ever thought about sitting back and relaxing instead of sweating your buns off all the time while playing video games? Especially titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 where the combat is turn based and there’s absolutely no need for you to scan your monitor every second?
If you have then it’s finally time to mess with those difficulty sliders. Only except there are no sliders, you have three options to choose from before starting your adventure. Keep on reading if you want to find out more about which difficulty is best for you before you choose to play in movie mode!
Difficulty Levels Explained – Which One to Choose & How to Change it
As you’re done making changes to your custom character (that took you more than an hour to make) you’ll be presented with three options for difficulty. You have options like Explorer, Balanced, and Tactician. You can change these options in the pause menu.
Explorer is basically story mode for players who want to enjoy the game at an even slower pace than it already is. Tactician mode is for gamers who want to come close to knowing what it feels like to play an RTS. It’s basically hard mode.
Difficulty Options
To go into more detail, playing in Explorer mode will grant you more discounts for trader prices. Hitting your allies with AOE spells will be less damning as well since they’ll be able to soak up more damage than usual from both sides. This includes your character too.
Balanced mode is the same mode that you used to play in during the initial stages of the game. It gives the right amount of challenges that you can overcome with a little bit of planning. Tactician? Well let’s just say that you need to walk in on a fight with a plan in mind every time. Throwing fireballs in this mode without thinking who’s in front of you will lead to more harm than good.
Enemies in Tactician mode will gain extra bonuses to their reinforcements, spells, and usable items. The good news is that you can change this difficulty anytime you want. To make any changes to the difficulty, hit the Esc button on your keyboard. Select Difficulty from the pause menu and choose any of the three options that fits your playstyle.
If you’re already on Tactician and still find the game too difficult then maybe you need to reconsider your options. These will include, picking your companions, save scumming, or just trying to wiggle your way out of a fight with a High Charisma character. Not everything you see at once in the game should be taken head on. You can always come back to a dungeon or side quest later when you’re at a higher level.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, now that you know which difficulty to go with whenever you’re playing, choosing the right class will also provide more options in making your game more interesting. Make sure that your party has a little bit of everything if you want to handle whatever the game throws at you.
