Genshin Impact Ann's Quest guide

Ann’s Story is a new World Quest in Genshin Impact that comes with the 4.0 Fontaine update. Fontaine is a very dramatic country and that extends to the many NPCs that you meet in the region, including Ann. Ann might be a fish, but her dramatic flair is one that reminds us of why Finding Nemo was such an iconic story.

Here’s how to to find her and finish Ann’s Story quest.

Ann’s Story Guide

Ann’s Story is Act II of the chain quest “The Narzissenkreuz Adventure.” The quest begins in Chemin de L’Espoir where you can see this floating mini asking you to save Petit Chou, a hydro mimic in the shape of a finch. That starts the chain quest “The Narzissenkreuz Adventure.”.

As you head deeper into the underwater cave, you’ll be traveling to save Princess Lyris. The second act of the quest begins with you and Ann after a sad separation with the rest of the crew enter the tower.

As you move forward, you’re presented with this puzzle. This is an introduction and the easy way is to pick up the spinning blue orbs or Hydroganas. Three of them will create a wide circular effect that constantly applies Hydro to your surrounding. Alternatively, use any Hydro character to constantly apply Hydro to the floating crystal.

The door opens and a portal appears. Enter the portal to move to the next area and you’ll be in the “center of the world.” Another cutscene with Ann happens as she explains what this place is. Unlock the door by interacting with the trigger. Take the portal that goes deeper.

You’ll have to fight a Bubble Seahorse here that has electro armor. Once you beat her, go right where the door opens and take another portal that’s like… 10m ahead. There’s going to be a Bubble Formation, so take out the Hydroganum and another cutscene takes place.

Take another portal beyond the classroom and then take the elevator up. Ann and you will note the sound of bell that happens as you go up. An exquisite chest will appear at the top.

You’re now back at the first room of Ann’s Story and finished the first loop. Now you see not one, but two Hydro crystals that need to be activated. Use the Hydroganas again. Then take the portal and you’ll end up in the room with the sword again.

Now interact with the barrier to unlock it using the Green Feather Accessory and get the Jabberwock’s Holy Sword. Go through the same route, two Seahorses now. Go through the portal again. You see two already inactive Bubble Formations. Go take the portal again. Go up the portal again, and the bell rings again.

You return to the first room and another conversation takes place. Pick someone wants this tale to never ends option and keep going.

This time, there are three floating crystals, but the solution is still the same. Take the portal again and this time, you have to fight three Seahorses and get a precious chest as the reward. You’ll see three deactivated Bubble Formations and take another portal again.

How To Break The Loop

Stop your autopilot here. Go up the elevator, the bell rings again. Jump out from the elevator at this point. There would be a portal there while you’re going up, but when you jump down, it’ll disappear.

You should see this portal when you continue taking this way that breaks out of the loop. There’s a portal in the middle of the classroom that will teleport you back to the first room. But this time, you can “move towards the right direction.”

Take the same route again to reach the room with the Holy Sword. Unlock the barrier again and get the Holy Sword again, but a new cutscene will take place. And you now can take the portal back to the first room and open the path forward.

Jump down and you’ll have to fight the Narcissus, finally. Which is basically an Oceanid, so prepare your team before entering the area. There’s a barrier that you can go through to initiate battle. Open your precious chest after winning the battle and go through the door.

Inside this room is all the lore you ever want. Indicators will be shining to tell you what to interact and read, explaining the purpose of this place.

After reading the final book, you’ll be teleported to Annapausis. And the final chapter of the story begins.
