Starfield how to set up auto iron farm

There are a lot of useful tips and tricks that can make any start of your game in Starfield a lot easier, like having an auto iron farm. As one of the most used resources in the game, you will always need to have a constant supply of it. Shooting asteroids is one of the most effective methods to grind them.

But this time, we’re going to show how you can set up an auto iron farm on planets.

How to Setup An Auto Iron Farm

To setup an iron farm, you have to first find a proper planet with iron resources. You can do this by zooming out of the planet and scan for resources, similar to No Man’s Sky. You’ll be able to tell if a planet has a lot of iron by the brown tint on the surface.

Next, travel or land on any of this area and find a suitable, flat plain to start building. Start with building an Extractor, which will tell you what it’s excavating based on the available resource. It’s supposed to say “Extractor (Iron)” while you’re doing this.

Power the Excavator with either a Solar Array or Fuel Generator. The latter requires a lot of fuel and if you don’t have that, the Solar Array should work great in a solar system. It provides 6 energy while the Extractor requires 5, so one should be enough.

Finally, set up the storage for solid object. Make sure to choose the right storage type! Then hover to the Extractor and either right click or press A on your controller to connect it to the storage.

If you have enough resources, you can set up several Extractors within the same area of a couple of Solar Arrays. Extractors cannot be setup next to each other but they can still be in the range of the same Solar Array.

Do share with us what’s your best auto iron farm set up in Starfield!
