Lords of the Fallen is an upcoming game that acts as a follow up to the game of the same name originally released in 2014. In the game, you play as one of the Dark Crusaders going on a mission to defeat the demon god known as Adyr. With all of that said, is the game a purely singleplayer experience, or does it have an online component as well?
Multiplayer or Singleplayer?
Although Lords of the Fallen’s campaign can be experienced on your lonesome, it has been confirmed that you can play through it with at least one other person through online co-op, with some limitations to looting.
Keep in mind that if the summoned player dies, they will be sent back to their original world and must be invited back in at certain locations once more.
Cross-platform gameplay is also supported, though it mainly only benefits PC players. This is because some outlets have reported that crossplay between the Xbox and Playstation is not supported, but both consoles individually can freely partner up with PC players.
Don’t let the presence of co-op give you a false sense of security, however, as the developers have also confirmed that other players can invade your game and interrupt you and your friend’s adventure.
While it hasn’t been explained how exactly it will work, one can assume that this will be similar to how other souls-like games handle it, wherein hostile players can show up uninvited and mess up your run for rewards.
That’s all of the information that we currently have about Lords of the Fallen’s multiplayer gameplay. We’ll likely know more once we’re even closer to release, or when the game itself comes out!
