Terraria’s Melee class may not be as diverse and easy to play as Magic or Ranged, but it is nevertheless a fun class with high defense and good crowd control for short-ranged attacks. One of the better swords in the game is the Terra Blade, which has the Broken Hero Sword as a Crafting Ingredient.

How to Get Broken Hero Sword | 1.4.4.9
The Broken Hero Sword is not a craftable item and is instead dropped by Mothrons. Specifically, each time you kill a Mothron, you have a 25% chance (or 43.75% in Expert and Master difficulty) to get it as a drop.
This would be easy, if not for the fact that Mothrons don’t spawn naturally in Terraria. To spawn Mothrons, a post-Pantera flying enemy, you need to start the Solar Eclipse event.
The Solar Eclipse is a Hardmode event, meaning you can’t start it until you’ve beaten the Wall of Flesh and unlocked Hardmode. It also has the additional requirement of having defeated one mechanical boss.
After you’ve done that, the event has a chance to occur randomly at dawn. But if you don’t want to wait for that to happen, you can also summon a Solar Eclipse by using a Solar Tablet.
You can get a Solar Tablet as a 20% drop chance from Lihzahrd Chests in the Jungle Temple. Or, you can kill Lihzards and Flying Snakes to get Solar Tablet Fragments.
Once you’ve got 8 Solar Tablet Fragments, you can use a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil to craft a Solar Tablet. Using the Solar Tablet will start the Solar Eclipse event and you’ll be able to kill a Mothron for the Broken Hero Sword drop.
What To Do With The Broken Hero Sword
If you got the sword, there’s two things you can craft with it:
- Terra Toilet: a useless furniture item.
- Terra Blade: a powerful Hardmode projectile sword.
Whatever you do with it, keep in mind that there’s no point in keeping the Broken Hero Sword, as it doesn’t actually deal any damage. You can also sell it for 7 gold and 50 silver coins.
