Type Soul just released a couple of balance changes recently, and there are a lot of things that were adjusted throughout the last few days. Among these changes is a slight rework to the Black Flash skill, and in this guide, we will be quickly going through what they did and maybe even cover how to get it for those who didn’t already know.
Black Flash Rework Guide
Before we talk about what exactly the developers changed about Black Flash, let us quickly cover the methods you can try so that you can unlock it for yourself. If you already have it, skip to the next section of the guide!
There are actually a handful of methods, though these are purely based on talks among other players, as there is no solid information about it on the official Trello, or anywhere else really.
Because of this, a lot of it is based on speculation or anecdotal evidence. Basically, the following methods are what people say can potentially drop you a Black Flash at varying rates:
- Exchanging ten legendary items at the Exchange NPC in Karakura Town – Unconfirmed as only a few people have even mentioned this method whenever Black Flash is brought up.
- Participating in Clan Wars – Confirmed and is probably the ideal method, especially for groups.
- Simply getting lucky while in the AFK World – Confirmed, but requires a World Ticket that can be found by defeating raid bosses.
- Participating in the arena game mode – Supposedly confirmed as players have been reporting that they got one from there recently, along with other valuable drops.
What Else is New?
The main thing that changed is that Black Flash is now a universal ultra skill. With this change, the requirement to have it is now to simply have 50 skill points allocated into any skill tree.
Once you have Black Flash unlocked, all you need to do in order to use it is to build up your soul style meter up until it is at U rank. This can be done by successfully landing basic attacks, so pay close attention to the meter while you are fighting somebody!
There is no timing required for this. You essentially just have to hit your M1 attack until the rating on the upper right corner of the screen has turned into a black letter U. Once that happens, just tap the Black Flash button to cast it.
With the latest rework, this ability now applies an anti-heal debuff for an unknown short period of time if it successfully hits the target. It now also has hyper armor, though this can still be broken by Hakuda’s Spine Rend, so be careful!
In a follow up patch, the developers also changed Black Flash so that it can now deal true damage. In addition to that, they fixed something behind the scenes so that, visually, using it feels a little more consistent and matches the move’s animation.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about the newly reworked Black Flash ability, so get out there and start experimenting with new builds that make use of it!
