Although it might seem so, there is a way to increase the odds of you picking up and catching an actual Lobster. For this, you will need to get the Sermon in the food category. It is the third one.
There is a choice to get a Ritual that makes some more special fish appear. Highly recommended to go for that one because it will drastically increase the numbers of how much Lobsters you will get. This is actually one of the ways of making lots of food. It will actually double the amount of fish you will catch each time.
If you do the Ritual thing, you will not only be able to stock up on the Lobster, but you will also get a significant number of Crab too! Double profit! So definitely go for that one.
