There are a lot of different characters in Project Smash, and even more are coming in future updates. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses, and a lot of players are forming all sorts of combos with their move sets.
One of the characters you’ll want to try out is the Sumo which has a belly flop move that is honestly fun to use!
In this guide, we’ll show you how the Sumo character in the game works by showing all of its abilities. We’ll also show you some combos to help you get started!
Sumo Combo Complete Guide & Showcase
Despite the name the Sumo character isn’t slow nor is it hard to use. There are some quick moves that you can use with it and some of them can be great at doing combos. Of course, there’s also the Belly Flop move which is my favorite for obvious reasons. Here’s how you can use the Sumo effectively!
Sumo Basics
The Sumo has 4 moves just like any other character in Project Smash. The difference is that the sumo has a couple of unique moves. There’s the grab move that locks you and your enemy into an animation and a couple of moves that give you a lot of range. Here are all the moves for the Sumo character:
- Palm Barrage – You do multiple quick strikes in front of you that ‘catch’ the enemy and deal damage to them.
- Headbutt – This is a quick attack where you launch yourself forward headbutting the enemy. You and the enemy will be launched opposite of each other when it connects.
- Belly Flop – You jump up and slam your body onto the ground. The hitbox of the landing is bigger than it looks.
- Bear Hug – This is a move where you grapple an enemy and crush them in a hug before throwing them forward.
SIDE NOTE: Using super jumps with the Belly Flop move can be extremely fun and effective, so here’s a detailed guide on how to do Super Jumps!
Sumo Combos
There are two combos that we have for you to use with the Sumo character. They’re the same but with one key difference. They’re a bit hard to land but with practice, you can be more consistent with these!
- Belly Flop + 3x M1 + Bear Hug + 3x M1 + Palm Barrage – Getting this combo off can be tough with the starting move. When you get the hang of it though it can be effective.
- Belly Flop + 3x M1 + Bear Hug + 3x M1 + Headbutt – This is the above variation but is used when an enemy is reaching 90%. Use a Headbutt instead of palm barrage to go for the kill.
When you play the Sumo, you’ll be surprised at how mobile the move set it. Both Belly Slam and Headbutt have a lot of range to work with. You can use those to get close and grab them with Bear Hug or Palm Barrage for some easy hits.
Those are all the moves and some combos you can work with for the Sumo in Project Smash. Now, go out there and try it out yourself!
