There are some areas in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin that are borrowed from others in the franchise but when it sticks to the original locations of the first game, it improves and makes them a bit more challenging. One of these is the Western Keep that you’ll get through at a certain point in the game.
In this guide, we’ll help you through one of the dangerous parts of the area, The Crimson Ramparts.
How To Get Through The Crimson Ramparts In Western Keep
After going through the first few floors of the Western Keep, you’ll find yourself with a set of double doors that leads you outside on an elevated walkway. Coined the Crimson Ramparts because of the color of the bricks leading your path, this is the start of the new area that you’ll have to go through in this level.
Immediately as you go through the doors you should notice a chest in your path, carefully take the contents, watching out for the ballista that will actively shoot at you as you go along this way. Hide behind buildings and alcoves to dodge the attacks.
Enter the tower to your left, inside would be a ladder that would take you to a chest at the top. Exit the tower then move to the right path where you’ll be aggroed by some Black Widows. You can choose to fight them or go right through them as they would leave you open to more ballista attacks.
A Harpy will then start shooting Aero at you, with all of these happening, grab the chest in the corner and look for a wooden cover that is blocking your way to the next tower. Stand in front of it and the ballista should shoot at it and destroy it for you. After it’s gone, you are free to move up the tower and get the chest hidden there.
Go back to the tower with the Harpy and jump on the gap, it will lead you down to the side of the tower. There should be a wooden bridge you can cross. After you cross, head right and you’ll get to an open area. Take the stairs and take down the Coeurl that waits for you there. Keep in mind that the ballista is still shooting at you at this point so tread with caution!
There is a small opening after you beat the Coeurl, go through that opening and keep going. Various monsters will try to stop you, defeat them or run through them and it will lead you to the Master’s Quarter, the next area for Western Keep.
That’s all there is to it! You might want to double back to where you found the stairs leading to the Coeurl and take the left path from it to access a Cube sitting at the opening of a large tower by the bridge.
