NPCs can be a hit or miss in most games and sometimes they just don’t want to follow your orders. Maybe it’s a bug in the game or perhaps there’s a mechanic you’ve missed. Either way, you’ll want to fix that before the NPC wreaks havoc!
In Nightingale, you can get Hirelings who will do menial tasks for you like gathering resources. They can do all sorts of stuff like chopping wood but sometimes you don’t want them to do that. Maybe you’re preserving the forest for the looks, and an over-achieving hireling can ruin that.
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can stop hirelings from doing collection duty in the game. Just so they don’t deforest the entire map while you’re grabbing a snack. Now let’s see how we can do that!
How To Stop Hireling
In a survival crafting game, you should expect to collect a bunch of resources. From there you can craft different items or even build a base with said resources. The problem lies with how monotonous it can be. The great thing about Nightingale is that you can have hirelings to do the work for you.
SIDE NOTE: If you’re wondering on how you can get wood bundles in the game, here’s a guide for that!
All you need to do is get a Hireling, give him an axe and they’ll go chop down some trees. If you want to stop the Hireling from doing resource gathering, just unequip his tool from their inventory!
If you don’t want them to attack those poor defenseless trees, just give him another tool or even a weapon.
Hirelings can be finicky in Nightingale and most people only use them either for simple tasks or as pack mules. It’s honestly annoying how you’ll need to micro-manage them sometimes as well. Hopefully you the developers fix these problems in the future!
That’s how you can stop hirelings from doing certain activities in Nightingale. Now, go out there and try to do it yourself! If you don’t care about your hireling going ham on some trees, you’ll want to convert some of that to essences. Here’s a guide on how essences work in the game!
