As a distinguished castaway or prepper, two things should always come to mind whenever you’re left to your own devices: food, and shelter. Food will eventually find its way to you as the door to cannibalism is always open for the brave and daring.
Shelter, however, is a different story. There are plenty of things to consider like accessibility, proximity to a clean water source, and of course, security. You’re making the choice to settle down at a decent spot to get peace of mind after all, unless the locals already got a piece of yours.
In this real estate guide, we’ll show you the best vacant lot the island has to offer. House sold separately.
Sons Of The Forest – 3 Best Starting Base Locations
When roaming around the island you won’t always make it back to HQ in time, especially if you venture out too far.
In this guide, we’ll show you three different locations where exploration will be made easier for you!
If this is your first time playing Sons Of The Forest then naturally you want to stay close to your living quarters. This location is perfect for you as the clearing provides an extra layer of security, that is, assuming you build your cabin far enough from the trees.
You can find this spot by going to the northwest end of the map.
Another reason for wanting to settle here is the ease of access you have to the bunker that’s north of the lake. You’ll have to go through a cave system first but food and meds will be waiting for you at the end of that tunnel.
Perfect if you have a sleeping bag and you plan on exploiting the item duplication glitch!
Next location is just southeast of the first one, a great place for fishing and transporting logs as the river moves downstream. You can just freely cut down anything, throw it in the water and it will eventually end up next to your base!
You can also use the water to swim away from the angry cave dwellers if their numbers start to overwhelm you.
Aside from that the area is quite spacious, and the sound of running water is always welcome if you enjoy a good ambiance. Hunting animals here is still possible if the fish aren’t biting!
You might be left vulnerable at times with this area but if you’re a veteran of The Forest then defending yourself from the hungry jackanapes is no issue. On top of that, you still have access to fresh water, fish, animals, and wood for all your building needs.
Oh, there’s one more thing, let’s not forget about the million-dollar view! If there weren’t any cannibals on this island this site would’ve easily been a tourist destination! You might want to do your woodcutting elsewhere though if you don’t want to spoil the scenery.
There you have it, three vacation spots abundant in food and exploitable resources! The only thing left to do is find a good spot for your treehouse! Just make sure to tell Kelvin to stop collecting more wood to avoid any “accidents”.
