In the game Rise of Nations, you’ll take control of a country of your choosing and try to make that country great. This means you’ll control the economy, the production and the policies of that country as well as the armies and the wars. There are a lot of different nations in the game and most of them have unique playstyles to them to make them viable.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to play as Italy in the game so you can try to recreate the Roman Empire but in the modern day! Now, let’s see how we can do that!
Complete Italy Guide
At the start of the game as Italy you’ll want to immediately justify on the small nations of San Marino and Monaco. While doing that you’ll want to set your taxation laws to maximum, don’t worry about the stability hit since Italy can take it.
With the money from taxes, make 1 Steel Factory, 1 Motor Factory 1 Electronics Factory and 1 Fertilizer factory. Don’t forget to trade for the resources as you don’t have for the upkeep of these factories. Also make sure to make them in big cities represented with the red square icon on the map. This will make them produce more so you can get more money.
Once you’re done with that, make a military group and don’t forget to assign a general to it. Any general will do, even weak generals can be upgraded. The only one that you’ll want to throw out is when you get a general that has massive Attack, Mobility and XP debuffs. At that point the justification for San Marino and Monaco would be done, invade and annex them.
With the money accumulated in the war make another Motor Factory, 2 Civilian Factories and one Aircraft Factory. Don’t forget to trade for the goods for these factories.
The next step is to justify on Croatia and Malta. The idea is to get a hold of the Mediterranean Sea before invading the rest of Europe. That means taking Spain, the Balkans, Turkey and Egypt. If any of the players are in those countries then take them out first, or ally with them and backstab them later. Make sure to also develop cities to increase your income and manpower, make civilian factories as well to sell consumer goods to AI nations.
At the worst-case scenario, big players that control France, Germany, Britain or Russia might try to conquer all of Europe. If this happens make sure to make another army and expand in Africa, this will give them a hard time capitulating you if they ever get mainland Italy.
