Elden Ring: Red Hot Whetblade Location | Apply Fire Affinity

Ashes of War, but make it burn!

Elden Ring took the world by storm upon its release, garnering an almost perfect score from most critic sites and accolades all throughout.  While not a perfect game, this new installment to the Soulsborne series shed most of the formula of said games while keeping the best ones intact.

One of the mechanics that makes the game good are the Ashes of War that you can get to enhance your weapons.  These grant executable skills to a compatible armament that gives you that edge in battle.  Ashes of War themselves are upgrades to the weapons but did you know that you can also upgrade the ashes themselves?

In this guide, we’ll show you how to affix an elemental affinity to your favorite Ashes of war.

Red Hot Whetblade Location – Elden Ring

The item you’ll need to find to apply fire affinity to your physical or flame-type Ashes of War is the Red-hot whetblade that you’ll come across throughout your exploration.  Do note that you can only get this whetblade after beating Starscourge Radahn.

After downing Radahn, go back to the Site of Grace just before you enter his golden boss fog.  Take a right when you see the three, flamethrower enemies to face another flamethrower.  Go past them and head towards the tower.

Dodge the Iron Maiden or kill it, and through that particular monster, once you’re inside, you’ll find the whetblade with another enemy.

You can then use the Red-Hot Whetblade to add a Fire or Flame Art affinity when you apply the Ashes of War of your choice to your chosen weapon.
