There are some quests in Genshin Impact that only tell you to go to one place without any further explanation. It’s kind of like the old Morrowind days where linger around places to no end knowing in full that the objective is right on top of you.
The production zone in Fontaine is almost the same, not only that but you need to finish another quest as well in order to get an item you’re going to need to progress your current quest. Find out more about The Proscribed, Hidden in Plain Sight Quest by reading the guide below!
Choose To Go To The Production Zone In The Morning & Gather Information
Before going to the Fortress of Meropide, you need to have already finished the Archon Quest “Chapter IV: Act III – To the Stars Shining in the Depths.”
By doing this quest, you will receive the Unprocessed Widget you will make use of in the Production Zone Lower Level.
Place the unprocessed widget inside the forge and wait for it to finish the process. This needs to be done three times before you can move on. After that, you can talk to the Meropide Guard to the right to have Rowan pop out of thin air for a cutscene.
You’ll go to the next day and talk to the foreman next to the forge again. He’ll give you more unprocessed widgets to work with. Do the process for another three times and talk to him once more to progress to the next day.
This will keep on going for a few more days. Kind of like real factory work where you do nothing but engage in fourteen hours of rigorous merrymaking.
After working for three days in front of the forge, you’ll get some oddly colored Strange Meat for lunch. Choose to Investigate the clues you discovered when Paimon asks what you want to do next.
This finishes the “gather information” segment of the quest. Your objectives will update and now tell you to look for clues regarding the strange meat.
The rest of the quest will have you walking back and forth between the production zone and the cafeteria. Expect to talk to a few more NPC’s as well while you’re moving around.
