The new Genshin Impact Update 4.1 introduces an underwater prison in Fontaine called Fortress of Meropide. As you progress the game’s questline, you’ll come across “The Truth Shrouded in Shadow” quest, which will task you to “Look for clues concerning Childe.” If you’re having a hard time figuring out how to go through this certain point of the quest, I’ve got you covered!

Look for Clues Concerning Childe
From the broken railings, you’ll need to jump down and follow the quest’s in-game waypoints shown on the screen.
Continue following the waypoint and go through the gate. Upon entering, there will be a short cutscene, which will introduce you to a mechanism. Now, this is where you’re probably stuck. Don’t worry, read further on how to solve this puzzle.
NOTE: I will be numbering the terminals you’ll come across this area based on what appears first. So, you can easily keep track of which terminal is being mentioned.
First, look to your right and activate the first terminal. Afterward, the mechanism will go down to your level. Walk towards the mechanism and go right.
You’ll then come across the second terminal, activate it. This will make the mechanism turn counterclockwise, which will let you go to the opposite side of the first terminal. Go ahead and make your way up a flight of stairs and some ladders.
You will then come across the third terminal. Skip this one for now, and proceed to the fourth terminal, located just up ahead. Activate the fourth terminal.
This will then make the mechanism turn clockwise. Keep in mind that the mechanism has to be under you at this point.
Afterward, go back to the third terminal and activate it. This will bring up the mechanism again. Once that’s done, make your way back to the fourth terminal and the mechanism should be right in front of you.
There you have it! From here, simply follow the waypoint. And after jumping down here, a cutscene will trigger. Again, dive into the water and continue following the waypoint until you reach another cutscene.
