Which Character Should You Main in My Hero Ultra Rumble?

The plight of picking your main character in My Hero Ultra Rumble is a serious issue because you can’t unlock everyone. So, choosing the character that you know you can master is important in this game. We’ll talk about the different types of characters, their skillset, and how to know which one fits right in with your playstyle.

And does it mean you should just main the best character in the game like Ibara or Bakugou?

Which Character Should You Main

Your main character will depend a lot on: 1. your favorite character, and 2. your playstyle. Let’s face it, nothing we say here can convince you to play Uraraka Ochaco if you don’t like her. So, make sure not to feel pressured to having to play only meta characters.

This guide will be aimed for those unfamiliar with Battle Royale game such as this, adjusting the right hero to pick based on the difficulty as well.

Beginners (Deku, Ibara, MT. Lady, All Might, Itsuka Kendo. Mr. Compress)

The game commands not just about smashing the keyboard to land your hits, but also knowing how to move and shoot.

And some characters do these rather effectively without having to press too many buttons. Run, land your shots, and run again.

The most basic character to do this is Deku. He has Blackwhip that allows him to grapple and change position. His alpha move is also easy, a single-shot flick that deals more damage when crouching.

Followed by his teachers, All Might and senior MT. Lady. Now, I’d like to put All Might and MT. Lady together because of the similarity in their skills.

Both of them shoots projectiles from mid-range and both of them also shares the same rush-in skill.

But MT. Lady is focused more on being a tank. She has Caldera Stomp which knocks back enemies and giant mode that raises her defense.

Meanwhile, All Might is more of a ruckus-maker with his tornado skill. He is also able to jump far, giving him slightly better mobility, although it’s slow.

Ibara is a ranged character with support quirk and if clicking to shoot like Deku isn’t your style, Ibara might be yours. Using her ranged attack that deals multiple times, you only need to worry about timing your hits.

Instead of a mobility move, Ibara’s beta move allows her to knockback close enemies. And on top of that, if she’s close enough, she can stun enemy. Her most precious move, however, is her instant revive.

Another easy-to-use character is Itsuka Kendo, the all-rounder. She can attack, she can knockback, and she can shield.

She’s a support character under the assault category. Her special action is carrying and throwing a knocked ally to a safer place for revive. Her skills are straightforward. I don’t need to explain what literally clapping your enemies do, right?

Similar to Kendo, Mr. Compress also has easy to land hits, has a shield, but with one difference. Instead of another attack move, he can teleport out of a situation instantly with wind up.

However, his shield does more than just protect – it repels attacks back to the enemies.

Pub-stompers (Bakugou, Tsuyu, Deku, Ibara)

This selection is for those who have had experience in similar Battle Royale games. The pub-stompers aren’t exactly the easiest characters to use, but they typically are main fraggers, able to down enemies safely, and can get out of pinchy situations on their own.

You’ve known Deku and Ibara. With their ranged abilities, they’re some of the most solid DPS characters. Ibara’s stunlock makes it still scary even when you close in on her.

Bakugou is the name that stirs up annoyance in a lot of players for good reasons. All of his skills are offensive, all of them deal major damage, and all of them simply require decent aiming ability.

His quirk is his ability to jump and dash, twice, on air. That allows him to run pretty fast from most situations.

The other one is Tsuyu, who is the third party you do not want to deal with. Simply because it’s impossible to pinpoint and knock her with her grapples.

Instead of DPS, Tsuyu has 3 grapples like Deku’s. She can also go invisible for 10 seconds and is usually the last man standing in a team fight.

“I like challenges” (Shoto, Himiko, Kirishima, Cementoss, Ochaco, Yaoyorozu)

In a game where projectiles are flying around your head, you have Kirishima and Cementoss, both lacking in your typical shooting your shots moves.

Cementoss can create a wall that changes the battlefield. He can conjure up very high wall that breaks line of sights and allow your team to reset. It can gatekeep teams from going into the ring, slow them down, or bottleneck them.

The challenging aspect about him is that you have to get creative depending on what’s happening on the field.

Kirishima, Red Riot, is a bulldoze, melee player. The hard part about using Kirishima is you have to remember that taking in shots is part of your job.

You have higher defense than most characters and you have to rush in until melee range to land your hits.

Todoroki Shoto’s skills work differently depending on the situation. His ice wall cannot be penetrated, but his special quick, firewall, can.

He can dash away with his ice too or decide to turn it into offense instead of defense. He has so many things he can do and that makes him challenging to use.

If you know Toga Himiko, you know exactly why she’s hard. She can copy anyone’s skills, but that also means you have to know those heroes first.

Yaoyorozu actually has pretty simple skillset. She’s easy to use but at the same time, you’ll immediately see why she’s lacking in a Battle Royale setting.

Like the series, Momo can conjure up items and, in the game, she can make a cannon, a slapstick for melee, and a shield for tanking. Her damages are pretty high, making her a scary third-party character.

The only problem is her lack of ability to run away. Her beta is a shield, but there’s not exactly the best moment to use this because you can rush in, but not out. It’s also not enough to run from any other characters in the game.

Movement characters (Ochaco, Tenya, Tsuyu, Bakugou)

If you love the flexibility of movements in this game, these are your three top choices. As mentioned before, Tsuyu comes with 3 grapples and has the ability to hide. If you love doing crazy stunts and get away with them in plain sight, this is the girl.

Another girl that can do that is Ochaco. She can do similarly three very far air jumps, which if combined with her special quirk, allows her to rotate across the map without problem.

She can switch angle anytime and can be hard to lock into because of this. The only downside is that she doesn’t deal much damage.

And then Tenya. The class leader’s ability to run is, as expected, implemented in the game as well. So fast is his running and he can run up the wall, which makes him unique compared to other characters.

Getting used to this might take a while, but once you do, you can do really wild things with that. He doesn’t deal a ton of damage, but she deals more than Ochaco and can chain his abilities well.

Unique playstyle (Denki, Dabi)

Denki‘s main attack can create walls of electricity if they land on grounds within a certain range. They’ll stay for a while and can make it annoying for characters to traverse.

However, this skill might just prove to be useless for characters that can get in and out quick. He does have his paralyze move which is fast and can stop someone from running away.

Meanwhile Dabi is an odd case because Dabi deals major damage but needs good teammates to make great plays.

He has a big AoE move that shields out incoming attacks and can lay traps. He can summon a ring of fire when downed, but that’s your last measure if you can’t get away.
