Assassin’s Creed Mirage really does bring back the feel of the old games in the series which really captured the hearts of fans. However, it also does reinvent some aspects and mechanics in the game. This includes the new pickpocket mechanic which was iconic in the previous games.
In this guide, we will show you how to pickpocket in the new game. The mechanics for pickpocketing have been reworked requiring a different method. This can be really off putting at first, especially for the regular fans of the series. Let’s dive in and see how you can get your hands on some Dirhams illegally!
How to Pickpocket
In Assassins Creed Mirage, you cannot pickpocket all NPCs that you see passing by you. This is quite different from the older games where you could pickpocket everyone. Instead, you need to locate the NPCs whom you can pickpocket from.
You can identify these targets by a Pouch hanging from behind their belt. The best way to locate them is by using Eagle Vision as the pouch behind them will start glowing.
When you approach these targets, you will even see the Pickpocket option show up.
Approach your target and press the Pickpocket button. This will open a minigame with another Pickpocket button.
The minigame will show a large white diamond followed by a smaller shining blue diamond. The white diamond will immediately start reducing in size.
The goal is to quickly press the Pickpocket button when the white diamond aligns exactly with the blue diamond.
You will need to be very quick as there is less than a second for you to react. If you press the Pickpocket button at the right time, you will successfully Pickpocket the NPC.
Now, you can walk away from your victim without them suspecting a thing!
However, if you fail to press the Pickpocket button or do it too late, the Pickpocketing minigame will fail.
The victim will feel a small shove and immediately start feeling their pockets. They will also alert everyone in the area, including any guards.
So, make sure that you are in a safe area before you begin practicing the Pickpocket mechanic. Even when you do fail, make sure to run away quickly to ensure that there is no one to catch you or get alerted. With time, you should be able to get the hang of this mechanic.
