Oftentimes, restarting the device after your first install help with the issue. So don’t fret, perhaps you simply need a good ‘ol restart!

Plug Directly to PC

Another solution that’s been found by a user who encountered static, muffled sound in the game.

Previously, their headphones were plugged into the USB Audio Controller. After re-plugging the headphone directly to PC, the specific audio issue was gone.

Windows Audio Settings

Open your Control Panel, and then open the Hardware and Sound. Then click Sound and right-click on your active audio device.

Select Properties and under the Enhancements tab, tick Disable all enhancements.

And then under the Advanced tab, make sure that you’re using the 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) settings.

Reinstall on (another) SSD

Some users have confirmed that reinstalling on an SSD help the game work more smoothly than before in general. That includes reducing to completely removing the audio issues. If you’re already installing on SSD, try installing on a different SSD.

And those are some of the known solutions to the various audio issues existing in the game. We’re hopeful to see Remedy address the audio bug and if they’ll roll out a patch to provide fixes for Alan Wake 2.
