One of the very first mysteries you get to solve in Alan Wake 2 is the Cauldron Lake Murder case. During this, you’ll gather various information regarding the killers and the victim. As you explore the locations, there are many hidden clues and dangerous enemies that you need to deal with.
The victim of the case is Nightingale, and his heart is missing. Your objective for this part of the story is to find his missing heart. Information about the heart’s location can be concluded from previous clues. In this guide, we’ll show you some quick steps to find Nightingale’s missing heart.
Find Nightingale’s Missing Heart
At the Witch’s Ladle sign to the South of the Witch’s Hut, you will be able to see a small hole.
This hole is where you need to place Nightingale’s Missing Heart and start the cutscene. This cutscene will give you the information you need to track Nightingale at the Cauldron Lake.
First, go to the General Store. As you go there, open your map frequently so you do not get lost as you try to go there.
Once you get to the store, take your time and explore the location. You will then be able to see a deer running outside from inside the store, which can be quite sudden. A short while after, you will also see a Cult member with an axe, trying to attack you.
In order to take him down, toggle your flashlight boost to burn through the darkness surrounding him. Then, you can take out your gun and give him a few shots.
To efficiently use your ammo, try to land as many headshots as you can, which will greatly increase your chances of survival.
Then, keep exploring inside the store and pick up anything that you can find. On the floor, you will also be able to see a manuscript page.
This will work as one of the clues to help you unlock the option in the Profiling tab. With it, you will be able to obtain information about the missing heart.
After that, open up your Mind Place and go to your case board. Then, take a look at your currently available cases and search for ‘Cauldron Lake Murders‘ to put it on your case board.
After that, open up the ‘Murder At Cauldron Lake‘ case. The game will automatically place down all of the hints you currently have for that one case file.
You’ll also see a page about the Cauldron Lake Witch’s Hut. You can put that on your case board as well, which will help you find more information. Remember the manuscript page you found earlier? It’s time to use them for more information.
Then, put in the two manuscript pages that you have in your inventory. Once you put them down, the ‘What is the ritual?‘ question will turn green.
This will give you information about the ritual and prompt a new question about the location of the missing heart.
The game will then unlock an option for you in the Profiling tab. Go there and select Nightingale’s case. To the left, you will be able to see the ‘The Heart‘ option.
Once you have clicked on it, wait for the cutscene to end and you will unlock another one called ‘The Heart! Where is it?‘. These two cutscenes will tell you the exact location of the heart, which is inside a fridge of the General Store.
Near where you found the manuscript page, you will be able to see the refrigerator. Equip your flashlight and toggle boost to burn away the darkness surrounding the fridge. Then, you will be able to access it and collect the missing heart.
After that, go to your case board. Place down the Heart clue and the card will turn green. This will give you the information regarding the words on the Heart.
Then, place the other clue, which is ‘The heart is somewhere in the general store‘, about the Heart’s location,
That is how you can find Nightingale’s Missing Heart in Alan Wake 2. With this heart, you can then go back to the Witch’s Ladle sign we mentioned at the very beginning of the article and place it there. As you go there, you won’t know what’s going to happen, so be extra careful!
