There are a lot of quests in Genshin Impact, and you can easily get lost in all of them. A lot of players just go through some of the side quests clicking through the conversations without actually listening to them. I can’t blame them since there are tons of quests out there but sometimes, you get lost and out of context because of that. There are times when you just don’t know where to go next.
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can do the entire An Expected Lie quest in Genshin Impact. Now, let’s see what we’ll need to do to complete this side quest!
An Expected Lie Walkthrough
At one point in the “An Expected Lie” quest in Genshin Impact, you’ll be tasked with finding Nacker’s Hideout.
You’ll then be given a waypoint in the southern parts of the Fort Charybdis Ruins in the Morte Region. There near the shore is where you’ll need to go next, you can check the image below for reference.

When you get near that area, walk around the beaches and be as close to the water as possible. Then, Fusilier will then start a conversation and the waypoint will be moved further into the water.
Go into the water and then dive down, you’ll find the waypoint as seen below.
When you get there, you’ll find a sealed door with a puzzle to open it. Of course, the quest has a puzzle, the game loves them.
To start solving the puzzle, you’ll first need to get the powers from the nearby animals in the area. You can see a couple of them just to the north of the door. Take the powers and go back to the door.
To solve the puzzle, you’ll first need to make the big orange gem blue by interacting with it. Then, use the Left Mouse button to channel the attack on the small gem in the middle. This will move the box to the left of the door and slowly put it to the right.
When it gets to the end, on the right side of the door, quickly activate the big gem again making it orange. This will lock the box on the other side and open the door.
Once you open the door and go inside, you’ll be given a cutscene. At the end of the cutscene, you’ll have to fight a boss as shown below. Defeat it to continue the quest.
After defeating that boss, you’ll then find Nacker nearby on a platform above. Go there and defeat him as well to continue the quest.
Once you defeat Nacker, you’ll be given another waypoint this time in the southeastern parts of the Erinnyes Forest region. There should be a Teleport Waypoint just south of the quest marker so you can use that.
When you get to the area, you’ll find a small house on top of a hill surrounded by trees. Near the house is a table with a couple of NPCs that you’ll need to talk to. This will progress the quest and give you another waypoint.
The last waypoint of the quest is in the New Fontaine Research Institute shown below. It’s in the northern parts of the map and you can use the Teleport Waypoint in the institute itself to get there.
From there, just follow the waypoint and talk to the two NPCs in the Institute. After a short talk, the quest will be completed!
