Dorfromantik is a unique take on the puzzle genre where the player is presented with terrain tiles to form all kinds of landscapes. The game’s main objective is to utilize the provided deck of 40 tiles to prolong each session while scoring as many points as possible by perfecting tile placements or completing quests. This article will tell you all you need to know about these tile quests!
All About Quests & Guide – Dorfromantik
Quests are terrain development objectives that the player will randomly encounter as they progress throughout the game. As one of the only two mechanics that rewards players with additional tiles, they are an essential key to drawing out each game session longer. The players will recognize them by their different colors of icons indicating the type of terrain to develop and the scale required.
There are three kinds of quests in the game, which, in this article, we will refer to as Ordinary Quests, Count Restricted Quests, and finally, Closing Tile Quests, respectively.
Ordinary Quests are the most common quests that the player will encounter. Because they do not come with restrictions, the player can complete them with relative ease by satisfying the number of terrain features required.
In the image above, you can see the three quests in the field requiring the player to connect additional 4 stone features, 2 water features, and 21 tree features to each of their tiles. Completing each of them rewards the player with 100 bonus score points and 5 additional tiles.
Count Restricted Quests require the player to connect a fixed number of terrain features to their tiles, making them slightly harder to complete. They are also recognizable by their quest icon minus the plus symbol.
Exceeding the specified number of terrain features will result in quest failure, removing them from the field, but aside from opportunity lost, the game does not penalize the player upon failing them.
Regardless of their slight difference, both normal quests and count restricted quests gives the player the same amount of 100 bonus points and additional 5 tiles upon completion.
Closing Tile Quest requires the player to close the terrain features from further development and are recognized by assorted colors of flags accordingly to the type of terrain features. They can randomly appear after completing both normal quests and count restricted quests.
Like the two mentioned above, they also rewards the player with 5 additional tiles, but only gives the player 50 bonus points. Because they do not come with any restrictions, the game leaves it entirely up to the player when to fulfill them.
Due to their randomized timing and restrictions, quests provide the player with varying flavors of fun and difficulty as they progress through the game. Whether they are worth the effort, the lack of penalty leaves that entirely up to the players to decide. That covers everything you need to know about quests in Dorfromantik. As always, Happy Tiling!
