Rune Factory 5 – How To Tame Monsters

Getting monsters can be exciting, but we first need a place to put them in. First, we need a Monster Barn. Getting a Monster Barn can be done through a request from Riker. You will have to build a Monster Barn, which requires 30 Stone and 30 Lumber in your Material Box to build it. Once the request is completed, a Monster Barn will show up on your Earth Dragon.

The standard Monster Barn will only hold 4 monsters, and nothing more. To get more monsters, you will need to upgrade the Monster Barn via Studio Palmo. You can even get a second Monster Barn on other dragons for a very expensive price.

Now that you have your Monster Barn, we can now move on to taming monsters. Taming monsters is confusing at first, but it’s quite simple when you get the hang of it. Taming monsters isn’t just like in Pokémon where you weaken their health and throw a capture device on them. No, it’s much more complex than that.

Monster Taming Guide – Rune Factory 5

To tame a monster, you will need to find out what they like. This can easily be solved with a quick Google search. For example, a Nine-Tailed Fox likes Tempura, Tempura Udon, Starfall Strawberries, and Nine-Tailed Fox Bells. You can get the bells from the fox itself. Simply cast Steal, leave and re-enter the area, cast Steal and repeat the process until you have an abundance of bells.

Taming a boss isn’t an easy task, so it’s better to save first before doing so, just in case things go sideways. Once you approach the boss, do not attack. Instead, brush the monster. It’s like showing it that you are not afraid and are not a threat. Brush it a maximum of 15 times to get the max chances for taming.

Once you’re done brushing, bring out the items. In this case, the Nine-Tailed Fox Bells. Approach the fox and when the prompt for Give appears, press the button until you see a large heart bursting out in a text bubble, signifying that the monster has now been tamed.

Voila! You tamed a monster! And a boss monster at that! Naturally, boss monsters require a lot more work and careful approaches compared to normal enemies.
