Stardew Valley: Ultimate Winter Guide

Winter is busier than you think!

Stardew Valley Ultimate Winter Guide

Stardew Valley is a game about farming seasonal crops and unlocking stuff in the community center. When you go through your first 3 seasons, you’ll have somewhat of a routine to follow, and winter puts this routine on its head.  Suddenly you can’t grow crops, which is the main thing you’ve been doing the past few seasons. Well in this guide I’ll show you some of the things that’ll make you busy in Winter!

Ultimate Winter Guide In Stardew Valley

Before you go wandering around enjoying the snow-wrapped landscape, you have to remember a few things. There are community center bundles that still need to be done. This is also a great time to do some other things that you couldn’t really do while watering your crops in the previous seasons.

Community Center Bundles

There are a lot of bundles that can only be achieved in this season. The most obvious one is the Winter Foraging Bundle. The Snow Yam and the Winter Root can easily be found when you go to the beach and use your hoe to till there, after a while, you’ll get them.

Here is a list of things you might still need for the Community Center that can be found in Winter:

  • Tiger Trout – Found in rivers in Fall or Winter between 6am – 7pm.
  • Sturgeon – Found in the mountain lake in Summer or Winter between 6am – 7pm.
  • Sardine – Found in the ocean in Spring, Fall or Winter between 6am – 7pm.
  • Tuna – Found in the Ocean in Summer or Winter between 6am – 7pm.
  • Nautilus Shell – Found on the beach while foraging in Winter.

Farming Without Crops

At this point in the game, you probably already have a chicken coop or a barn with a silo filled with hay. If not, then I have to warn you that if you get one now and fill it with animals, you’ll have trouble getting hay to feed them unless if you’re using a mod or buying from Marnie’s. In the winter, taking care of your animals will be your routine instead of watering crops.

This is also the perfect time to gather resources since you have so much time now! Go to the secret woods to gather hardwood, or the mine/caverns to do some fighting and mining. Or if you really miss farming, get that Greenhouse up and running since you can plant anything in there!

Ginger Island

Once you’ve finished the Community Center, you’ll get a scene with Willy. He’ll tell you about his old boat that needs repairs. He’ll need 5 Iridium Bars, 5 Battery Packs, and 200 Hardwood. Once you’ve repaired the boat you can go the Ginger Island. There you can farm in any season, including winter!

Now you can see that the winter season isn’t as boring and mundane as you thought it would be. You can now make yourself busy, now go out there and enjoy the snow!
