In Ark Survival Evolved, you can breed animals and create a stronger version of said animal. However, breeding is a complicated process. It’s mostly players who have reached the endgame who use it. If you want to get a head start on breeding and mutations, then you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, we’ll explain to you the in and outs of breeding and mutations, as well as help you understand the process better.
Ark Survival Evolved – Ultimate Breeding and Mutations Guide
Creature spawns can be randomized based on your server difficulty and some, get ready for this, math. They can also spawn at random levels with skill points if tamed. For example, if you tame a level 150 Giga, you get to have 149 points to use. The reason for 149 is because that one skill point is already used in some stat.
To tame a beast, you need to find something that will increase its Taming Effectiveness. For example, a Desmodus’ taming effectiveness will increase with Blood Packs. Put the Blood Packs in your inventory and have the Desmodus latch onto you. They will consume the Blood Packs in your inventory until they are tamed.
Some animals require a bit more work and it can be a chore to do so, but having a Giga as your ride is certainly a motivation for some players.
Breeding
Now if you have a male and female animal, now it’s to start mating. Simply enable mating for both animals by using the option button when interacting with the animals. Once the egg is out, pick it up because it’s time to hatch an egg.
Some eggs require different environments. Some require a warm environment; some require a cold environment. You don’t actually have to go to a volcano or a frozen mountain to do so, but it is the fastest way to do so.
You can create air conditioners to cool down warm eggs, and you can throw warm eggs in the water for them to cool down. But, the best way in general is to use the Egg Incubator.
Once the egg hatches, imprint on it by pressing the option button. Then feed the baby until it’s large enough to feed out on its own.
Mutations
When the baby is grown, we can move on to mutations, which is a pain to do so because it will require time and effort. You will need 800 Mutagel to create 6 Mutagen. And, you can find them only in the Space Biome.
The Mutagel looks like a solidified snot that crawled out on its own because it somehow gained sentience and is now waiting to evolve in order to enslave the human race. Once you have the Mutagel, craft as many as you can and use those on your animals to get more levels.
