Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the latest JRPG to use the “2DHD” aesthetic, but its depth of field background blur effect is a bit… overbearing, to say the least!
Sure, it lends to a unique aesthetic. But there’s no denying that you lose a lot of visual clarity on the background due to the extreme blur. It’s obvious why some people loathe the effect…
Thankfully, PC players can simply disable it by tinkering with the setting. So, if you’re playing the game on PC, here’s how to disable its depth of field for once and for all!
How To Turn Off Depth of Field | Remove Background Blur
As we mentioned previously, the depth of field (DoF) effect can only be turned off in the PC version of the game.
Sorry to say, console players, but you can’t disable the background blur effect. We do hope that a later update for the game brings the feature to consoles, though!
For those of you playing on PC, though, the process is very simple. You just need to head into the game’s Graphics Settings, either via the main menu or the in-game pause menu.
If you’re in the Main Menu, simply select “Options” to open up all the settings.
If you’re already in-game, press Y (Keyboard) or the Menu button (Controller) to bring up the System Menu. Then, simply select “Settings.”
While in the Settings menu, simply scroll down to “Graphics Settings” and then select it. You’ll find the Depth of Field setting there, as one of the settings near the bottom.
Simply toggle it to “Off” and then close the menu while accepting to save changes. Blur be gone! The backgrounds will now be crystal clear no matter what.
Should the console versions ever get this option via an update, we imagine the process will be nearly the same.
However, there’s no official word from the developers on whether they will ever add a DoF toggle for consoles…
Speaking of options, you can also change which language the game is in, if you’re interested!
But well, now you know what to do to remove depth of field and remove the blur on backgrounds in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
