After almost 3 decades, JRPG fans had their wishes fulfilled with the game being released in the west as well. This time, however, it has beautiful HD-2D art and published by Nintendo for Switch users. Packed with 20+ hours of story and tough fights, O Dio Boss Fight is no exception. Let’s beat him together!
O Dio Boss Fight Guide: Live A Live
This can either be a very tedious fight that you can’t seem to win, or a simple one that’s practically won with just a few simple steps. The main thing that this will depend on is where you position your 2 characters at the start of the fight.
As mentioned, positioning is key in this encounter.
You need to make sure Sundown is right above the rock that’s in the middle of the fight space. Once you get him there, cast Hollow Point. This is to make sure the boss doesn’t have a chance to get close to your characters.
Move Mad Dog to the spot on the left-hand side of the aforementioned rock. Keep using his “Ride the Lightning” spell throughout the fight.
These are the right positions for your characters (as described above), keep them here at all times.
The reason we’re focusing so much on where our characters are is that we want to prevent O Dio from using his “Gatling Gun”. If he manages to use it, which he shouldn’t if you keep using “Hollow Point”, he will instantly kill a character of yours, making you start over.
Here is the sequence summed up (assuming you’ve already positioned yourself correctly (image above):
- Sundown’s “Hollow Point”
- Use Mad Dog’s “Ride the Lightning”
- Repeat until you beat O Dio
