Into the Breach is set in the far future, where humanity is fighting an army of enormous creatures known as the Vek. To battle them, the player commands soldiers who pilot massive mechs that may be outfitted with various guns, armor, and other equipment. In this Complete Beginners Guide to Into The Breach, we’ll show you some tips and tricks to play this game.

Complete Beginners Guide – Into The Breach

Into the Breach may look like the standard tactical strategy game, but there is something more to it. It is a very unique experience than that. It is a hybrid tactical puzzle game that has an almost chess-like quality to it. That is a very important distinction to make and have before starting with Into the Breach.

Most tactical games are based on battlefield victories by defeating the enemies, but Into the Breach is not a game about defeating the enemies most of the time. Essentially it is a game that boils down to 2 things:

  • Protecting the Power Grid at all costs
  • Managing the number of enemies on the map

It is a pretty hard game and it is made like this with a purpose. Even if you’re thinking that you’re doing amazingly well, the game has tons of ways to surprise you and even shock you. That’s what makes it a very fun experience, because you can’t even ever expect what’s going to wait for you.

RNG

Yes, RNG plays a big factor in this type of game and it might be said that Into the Breach would be the same. Still, it is a turn puzzle shooter game so it must rely on this thing. It doesn’t mean that everything is on a % or chance, you’ll need to be doing a lot of managing and strategizing beforehand.

But before you go on and start blaming the numbers there are a couple of things you need to look out for before. Especially in the early part of the game.

Civilian Buildings

Protect, protect and more protect. All of your civilian buildings need to be protected at all times. They are the core of everything that you might do in Into the Breach.

If you keep losing these buildings you will lose power. Simple: Lose all power – lose the game. When you’re thinking about what to do in a turn, prioritize keeping the civilian buildings safe

Ignore Threats

As long as you are not totally overrun by the enemies around you, or literally your mech is going to be webbed by some monsters, do not panic. You can manage enemies around you to until the number of 5-6 of them.

You only have a couple of moves per turn, so do not go wasting it on non-threats.

Push Enemies Back

Push enemies back as much as possible. You will get much more in return. You will be wasting your HP and getting damaged, but look at it as an investment because you’ll be getting a way smoother run if you do this.

Some Other Useful Tips You Need To Be Taking Care Of

  • Use Max as shells
  • Use the environment around you to your advantage
  • Block the enemy spawn points

That should be it! Hope this beginners guide helps. Find a playstyle that you enjoy and just have fun!
