Anime Champions Simulator continues to get massive content updates on a regular basis, introducing all sorts of new worlds, characters, items, quests, currencies, and more. Because of this, the current “meta” of this borderline idle game tends to shift regularly as well. In this guide, we will be giving you a few tips on how to approach gear in the latest patch!
Complete Gear Guide
First of all, let us talk about how to actually get any gear, just in case you are very new to the game and have no idea how to farm them. There are multiple methods you can try to acquire some gear, and here are some examples:
- Participating in Infinity Trials
- Completing dungeons
- Finishing raids – This one in particular will reward you with varying pieces of gear, with higher quality and quantity the harder the difficulty setting is. You can see a preview of possible rewards while picking a raid.
Each piece of gear has its own suffixes and affixes. The suffixes will always be active as long as the item is equipped on a unit (more on this later). Affixes, on the other hand, have a limit on how many you can have active at all times for a single unit.
For more context, each unit now has five gear slots: Transformation, Accessory, Head, Torso, and Legs. Because of this, you can have five different items equipped that have their own affixes, but only two can be active at a time.
In order to choose which affixes are active, just click on the unit that you want to adjust and press the Gear button. From here, you must now click on the green Change Affixes button and select the two items you want to apply.
A gold star icon will appear on the upper left corner of an item if their affix is selected. In the example image below, you can see that my accessory and torso gear pieces have the gold star above their icon, meaning that their affixes (Demonic & Furious) are currently active.
All the stats in the DPS Breakdown section on the right side of the menu will change in real time as you pick affixes, as well as the average DPS below the unit. Use these as a reference to see which affixes you currently have will result in the best DPS.
Any piece of gear can be rerolled at the Reroll area of the main hub city. There, you just have to access the Forge and you are given several options, including reforging or rerolling items.
Reforging will cost you some scraps, and it will change the affix of the selected piece of gear. It should be noted that affixes have the same types of buffs regardless of the rarity of an item, but they will have a higher stat ceiling if the item is of a higher rarity.
On the flip side, the Gear Reroll option will cost you some essence to use. The type of essence will depend on the rarity of the item. Here, you can reroll suffixes, allowing you to get rid of potentially bad or low bonuses and turn them into huge damage upgrades.
Now, with all of these basics out of the way, the next few sections will be a few tips to keep in mind as you farm a lot of gear. This will include advice that you can start following even way before you reach the current endgame.
Bonus Tip #1 – Which Stats to Focus?
If you have the resources to do so, you will want to stack a lot of critical hit chance and boss damage on your items. The goal is to get your units to have 100% critical chance, or at least as close to it as possible.
This will give you the best damage output for all forms of content, especially if you also have a bit of critical damage bonuses on your units. Plain damage buffs can also be used as a substitute to boss damage if you have to resort to that.
Bonus Tip #2 – Keep Lower Rarity Items
Gear can be a pain in the rear to farm, so generally, it is nice to have a bunch of rare or even common rarity items on hand to fully kit your entire team. Sure, their stats may be lower, but even a common item can be a huge buff compared to literally nothing.
Until you start drowning in higher tier stuff, you will want to keep your low end gear pieces while you’re farming up better items. Doing so will undoubtedly speed up your grind, as even the “worst” item can boost a unit’s damage by a lot depending on your level.
Keep in mind, gear stats are completely random. There will be rare instances where you’ll see a common item having somewhat better stats than a legendary equipment piece. This is why you shouldn’t just scrap everything you get.
Bonus Tip #3 – Don’t Be Afraid to Boost
If you have an excessive amount of drop boost potions lying around, don’t be afraid to use them whenever you decide to start grinding for gear.
Using these will increase your chances of getting gear of all sorts of rarity, though you should time them in a way that you can fully take advantage of the boost for maximum efficiency.
If you really want to maximize your drops and are patient enough to do so, you can wait for events that have bonus drop rates and more. These will stack with potions, which is, obviously, going to further speed up the grind.
Bonus Tip #4 – Don’t Worry About Scaling Units
Finally, if you are rich in diamonds and have been collecting Scaling Units through the dimension orb at the hub area, you might be thinking about equipping affixes on them.
We should warn you right now, they are reportedly not affected by gear affixes. If your team is running a scaling unit or more, do not bother min-maxing them with these buffs as they supposedly do not work at all.
You could still check if the DPS goes up somehow, though. Otherwise, accessories / gear will mainly just be a handful of cosmetics for scaling units.
And that is pretty much all of the advice we can give you when it comes to how you should be approaching the gear system in the current version of the game. While you’re here, check out our guide on how to find all chests in the Ghoul District in Anime Champions Simulator so you can clear that map!
