In case you are out of the loop, A Universal Time has just released the last part of its One Piece update, which means a whole lot of content related to that popular anime and manga franchise has been added to the game. Among the latest additions are all three types of Haki, and to upgrade them, you will need a specific resource first. In this guide, we will be showing you how to get Haki shards!
How to Get & Use Haki Shards
In this game, Haki acts as a sort of sub ability that you can use alongside your other move sets. There are three different kinds, just like in the series it is taken from. We have a more detailed guide on all of the Haki trainer locations, but here is a quick summary:
- Buso Haki – Obtained from Agent Bon, who can be found hiding behind shipment containers at the port.
- Ken Haki – Obtained from the Murimasu NPC, who is hiding behind a building near the main spawn area, just beside the skate park.
- Hao Haki – Can be acquired from BobBallin, an NPC who is standing beside the PVP leaderboard podiums that display people’s avatars.
Now, to progress any of these, you will need to speak with Rayleigh. This NPC can be found near the main spawn area as well. This is where you use your Haki shards.
Basically, you will need to max out your Haki points by finding and using Haki Manuals first. Once you have the current maximum points allowed at the moment, you must have the correct number of Haki Shards to unlock the next stage and gain new abilities.
The required number of Haki Shards is different for each stage. The exact math for it is “10 x [Current Stage of Haki]”. This means that if you are on the first stage, you will need 10 shards to reach the next.
The whole system is a bit obtuse, if we’re being very honest here, so I highly recommend checking out the official patch notes and figuring out the exact formulas for it as you grind it up yourself.
On that note, both Haki Shards and Haki Manuals are just random drops from loot crates. With that in mind, you will just have to keep clearing mob camps until you get the required amount to level up all of your Haki types.
There is pretty much no information about their exact drop rates, or even any estimates, but the general assumption is that they are found in epic or legendary chests. You will just have to keep grinding and pay close attention to what random chests are giving you.
Both Haki Shards and Haki Manuals do exist, that much I can confirm. In the example image below, you can see that I got a Ken Haki Manual from an epic chest. They really are just very rare, so a lot of grinding is required.
There really isn’t much advice I can give you when it comes to farming these. You just have to get lucky and find an epic or above chest from killing random mob camps. Don’t forget to check your time rewards as well, since these give epic chest pulls every now and then.
Aside from that, if you do manage to get either Haki Shards or Haki Manuals, don’t forget to add them to your inventory to keep them safe until you get enough. With how hard they are to get, it would be quite unfortunate if you logged out and lost them just like that.
Finally, keep in mind that you need to be using a One Piece spec in order to fully utilize the Haki system. As such, you will need to look for some devil fruits to actually make use of it. If that is the case, check out this guide on how to get the Suna Suna no Mi fruit in A Universal Time so that you can be a Haki user too!
