A major update has landed, which introduces Doors Floor 2! Along with exciting new experiences and challenges, this patch brings lots of fresh achievements and badges for you to acquire, letting you show off your Doors mastery, wits and strategy. One of the badges you can acquire is called the “Dead of Night” badge, and in order to unlock them, you’ll have to encounter Dread. However, things have changed since the Floor 2 Update of Doors has been implemented. That’s why in this guide, I’ll show you everything you need to know in order to spawn or encounter Dread, as well as get the Dead of Night badge in the game!

How To Spawn & Encounter Dread + Get Dead of Night Badge and Achievement

Simply put, you need to encounter the Entity named “Dread ” in order to unlock the Dead of Night badge. Still, there are lots of requirements and I’ll walk you across all of them in-detail, so it’s sure you don’t miss out on any important information.

It’s good to keep in mind that the Dead of Night badge is obtainable in both Floor 1 (The Hotel) and Floor 2 (The Mines). However, Floor 1 has Clocks—which are used to track the timer for encountering Dread. So, it’s easier to encounter Dread and get the Dead of Night badge in The Hotel!

However, if you’re up for a challenge and want to do it the hard way, you can unlock it in The Mines. But to unlock Floor 2 (The Mines), you’ll first need to have the “Rock Bottom (After HOTEL+) badge unlocked—which you can obtain by beating Floor 1 (The Hotel).

Find A Room Between 1-13 That has a Clock

Okay, so the first step is that you locate a room between 1-13 that has a Round Clock. Make sure you find the correct clock, as there are many variations of clocks in the game.

So, why Rooms 1-13? Well, because before the Floor 2 update, Dread could be encountered by staying in a room before Room 13 for 1 Hour. After 1 Hour has passed, you would need to walk into Room 13 to encounter Dread! But after the Floor 2 update, things have switched up—I’ll explain all the things you’re required to do in order to encounter Dread in the Floor 2 Update.

Using Round Clocks to track the time and spawn Dread in Doors Floor 2.

How To Encounter Dread in Floor 2 Update

To explain, Dread spawns after not progressing to the next room for longer than 10 minutes, with every new door you open resetting the 10-minute timer. Now, you can see on the Round Clock that time is passing by. When 10 minutes have passed, the clock will strike 12 at Midnight. That is when Dread spawns.

If you were to open the Door to the next room, the timer on the Round Clock will reset. That means you have to stay in a room for 10 minutes without opening the door to the next room. Also, you should know that the Spawn Room does not count as a room. It is suggested to start the “stay in a room for 10 minutes” step at Doors 1-100, not 0-100.

I haven’t tried for myself, but I can say for sure that I’ve encountered Dread from between rooms 1-3 in this update. Also, from what I’ve heard, Dread can only appear once per run. It’s also worth noting that you can backtrack to previous rooms but can’t progress to newer rooms.

AFK System & How It Works

Also, you cannot stay AFK! I suggest walking around and interacting with objects in the room you’re in and also in previous rooms to prevent yourself from being AFK. Of course, if you’re in a room with no clock, but a previous room has a clock, you can backtrack to see the clock in the previous room.

As for Floor 2, since there are no clocks there, it helps to have a Stopwatch to track of the timer. (Start the stopwatch as soon as you open the door, and if Dread doesn’t appear after 12 minutes, it’s a good time to restart).

Another thing you should note is that in both Floor 1 and Floor 2, after 7 minutes have passed, all the lights (including guiding light) in every room will break/disable. This will lead to Screech having a significantly increased spawn rate—and a long (about one minute) ambient sound will play. As for the AFK part, a system will be implemented to stop people who need to go AFK for 10-15 minutes from dying to Dread.

How The AFK System Affects You & Dread

This system basically activates: Whenever you are standing still for too long in the game, opening another tab while playing Roblox for too long or generally doing something that can trigger the “AFK” system. Also, it prevents Screech from attacking you, even if you’re in a Dark Room. However, it deactivates after you come back to playing the game, you’ll notice because a Screech will attack you as soon as you come back.

Unfortunately, the AFK system also affects Dread. If you are to do any of the following things I’ve mentioned, this will affect Dread’s spawning—and this is also why several people haven’t managed to spawn Dread.

So, my suggestion is to: Keep walking after every 5 seconds. Interact with items in your current and previous rooms. DO NOT Open any other applications while playing Roblox, and to fully focus, do not be AFK! Soon and surely, Dread will spawn.

So, you’ve met Dread? It’s time to Acquire the “Dead of Night” Badge

Now, simply encountering Dread doesn’t unlock the badge yet. In order to get the Dead of Night badge, you’ll also have to survive him. Don’t worry, I’ll show you everything you need to know about surviving Dread.

  • First, you need to go the NEXT room as soon as you see your screen get hit with the “Dread” effect, which is basically your screen changing to a grey color and hearing Dread’s sounds.
  • Keep in mind that you barely have 5 seconds to escape from Dread. As soon as you get the “Dread Effect”—you need to go the NEXT room immediately!

Also, even if Dread doesn’t appear, if you are to walk into the NEXT room while meeting all the requirements of encountering Dread, you can still somehow get the Dead of Night badge.

Don’t Die in the Night!

That’s pretty much it! Things have changed since the Floor 2 Update of Doors has arrived. However, follow the guide and you’ll acquire the Dead of Night badge in no time! Just make sure not to die in the night. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments section below. I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I get the time (I get busy too sometimes, you know?).
