Devas of Creation has quickly gotten a reputation for having tedious grinds despite the smooth and engaging gameplay, and we’re back at it with another long list of chores in order to roll a slot machine for something valuable. In this guide, we will go through every single step you need to follow in order to get a free flying mount!
How to Get Free Flying Mount (Secret Quest)
Before we get started, there is one important requirement that you have to keep in mind. You must be at least level 40 to start grinding for a free mount. There is no other way around this, so if you are not high enough, you will just have to grind, grind, and grind until you make it to 40.
Once you have made it to level 40, which I luckily did recently, you will need to find an Umbralith NPC named Alden Wraiths. He can be found just south of Zorin’s location, which is where you can get a free mount (insane luck is required, by the way).
To be more specific, you need to go south from the building where Zorin lives in. In the map, you will see that you will be going up the hill, and there will be a lot of level 36 trolls along the way. Watch out for suspicious rocks as those are usually trolls in disguise!
Once you make it to Alden Wraiths, you have to accept his repeatable quest “Taming the Sky”. Just like Zorin’s mount quest, this will be a multiple step quest that will have you doing an even harder set of tasks.
Taming the Sky – Overview & Steps
Before we go through each step of the quest, let’s take a look at the reward chest first to show you what the odds are of getting a flying mount. Here are all of the possible drops:
- 5000 Essence Tokens – 65% chance
- 2x Essential Fortune Nut Mix – 16% chance
- 2x Essential Arcane Meat Roll – 16% chance
- Wasp (Epic Flying Mount) – 1% chance
- Undead Eagle (Epic Flying Mount) – 1% chance
- Pterodactyl (Legendary Flying Mount) – 1% chance
As you can see, if you add them all up, you have a mere 3% or so chance of getting a flying mount. While grinding may not sound too bad, you might change your tone once you see the objectives. Let’s go through them one by one!
Step #1 – Slaying the Trolls
For the first step of the quest chain, you will be tasked with completing the following objectives:
- Collect 15 Troll Meats from Boulder Trolls
- Collect 10 Troll Meats from Glacier Trolls
This is pretty straightforward. You just need to kill the required monsters for the specified number of times, as they drop the quest item at a 100% rate. There are a lot of these scattered in the hills where Alden Wraiths can be found.
The issue here is that they are very spread out, and even with a ground mount, this will take a lot of time to complete. I highly recommend using a build that will let you one shot mobs to speed this up somewhat.
I use the bow’s solar arrow with low cooldown and some guaranteed crit modifiers from the dagger to essentially one shot any troll every few seconds. Despite this, the entire step is really slow.
There’s no real way to speed it up since there aren’t any good spots where you can lure them together for AOE hits. Boulder Trolls are particularly annoying as there aren’t a lot nearby, unless you head north towards Zorin’s house.
You can find a lot of Glacier Trolls near the start of the quest. Boulder Trolls, on the other hand, can also be found near the NPC named Guy near the Antbound Wilds. No matter where you fight them, you will have to wait for respawn times at least once to finish the step.
Step #2, #3, and #4 – More Fetch Quests… Yay.
For step 2, you just need to return to Alden Wraiths at the cliff. This is the perfect time to remind you that there is a waypoint you can activate nearby if you haven’t been exploring lately.
Check the map image below to see where it is relative to Alden Wraiths’ location. If you are drowning in escape scrolls like I am, you can use it to return to town and take the fast travel option back to the hills. This is faster than running back if you went to Antbound Wilds for trolls.
For step #3, after speaking with Alden Wraiths, you will be tasked with delivering the meat to Zorin. You should know where Zorin is by now, as he lives in the purple house that you can see at the map. On top of that, there will be a green quest marker pointing the way.
Just run down the hills north to get to him so we can proceed with the next step. Once you speak to Zorin, he will immediately give you the next task, which is to deliver a crate back to Alden Wraiths. Step beside the boxes nearby to pick one up on your back.
Once you have a box visibly strapped to your character, get on your mount and ride back up the hill. If you don’t have a mount… well, sorry about that, I guess. You’re going to be jogging then!
Just touch the boxes behind Alden Wraiths to drop off the package. You might have to dismount to do this, though I think it does it automatically for you when you get close enough. That should wrap up those three steps!
Step #6 – Gathering Stuff
Finally, you will be at the final step of the quest chain, which is to get the following items:
- Retrieve 25 Azure Mushrooms
- Retrieve 12 Ruby Berries
If you haven’t been leveling up your gathering skill, you’re going to be in it for a rough grind as you need to be high enough to pick berries. There are many nodes of azure mushrooms and ruby berries nearby, but due to their slow respawns, you might have to wait a while to finish it.
Most of these nodes that you can find nearby will have enemies nearby, so be ready to fight more of the same stuff you had to kill earlier just to gather these nodes. This part, depending on your luck, can be either painfully slow or hilariously quick.
The first time I did the quest, the ruby berry nodes only gave me 1 or 2 per bush. While writing this guide, they gave me 5 pieces each. Your mileage may vary, I suppose.
Lots of ruby berries can be found down the hill to the west and northwest, leading into the Antbound Wilds. Once you meet the level 37+ boars, you’re going to see a lot of these bushes nearby.
Azure Mushrooms are easier as they can be found all throughout the map. Unfortunately, there are only a few nodes near Alden Wraiths, so you will need to look around for a bit to get these. Once you have all the required stuff, return to Alden Wraiths one last time.
Wrapping Up the Quest
Upon returning to Alden Wraiths and speaking with him, you will now instantly spin for a reward, just like with Zorin if you were doing his rider quest. Let’s see what I got with the attempt that I made while writing this article!
Ah, well, that is probably the least shocking outcome. As you can see, there is a very low chance of getting a flying mount, but this is the only way to get one at the moment. You can’t even buy them directly if you’re a whale.
However, if you are a big spender, you can click on the “Spin” option upon claiming the reward for this quest. This will let you spin again for around 125 Robux per attempt. Personally, I don’t think that’s worth it, but you do you.
And that is pretty much everything you need to know in order to try and get a free flying mount in the game. Let’s hope that the developers improve on this in the near future, though they probably love raking in the Robux from spending players, so we’ll just have to wait and see!
