How To Unlock Fishing & Catch Fish
To start fishing in Infinity Nikki, the first thing you need to do is unlock the Rippling Serenity outfit. This outfit is a sketch, and you can grab it in the Heart of Infinity. To unlock it, you’ll need to collect a few materials and upgrade the outfit. Don’t worry, though—every time I’ve unlocked an outfit so far, I haven’t had trouble gathering materials. It’s been smooth sailing every time.
Now, here’s the catch (pun intended): unlocking fishing is tied to your progress in the main story. So you’ve got to keep playing through the story. It doesn’t take too long—probably about an hour or two, depending on how fast you are at solving those small puzzles in the game.
No spoilers here, but there’s a mission where something crashes into town. After that, a couple of missions later, you’ll be asked to head to a building. That’s when you’ll be told that you need the fishing outfit.
So, keep playing through the story, and before you know it, you’ll be ready to fish!
Once you’ve unlocked the Rippling Serenity outfit, all you need to do is equip it in your slot. If you’re on a keyboard, hit Tab to bring up the ability wheel, select the fishing outfit, and then right-click to cast your line. Now, here’s the thing: you can cast anywhere there’s water, but in my experience, fishing works best at actual fishing spots.
I don’t want to waste your time, so you can head to one of the closest fishing spots right there in town. Check it out—it’s super close to where you unlock the outfit!
How to Catch Fish
Now for the fun part: catching fish! Once you’re at a fishing spot, just right-click to cast your line into the water. You’ll know when a fish bites because the action will change. At that point, press the S button to reel it in. The fish will try to swim away, so use the A and D keys to pull in the opposite direction of where the fish is trying to go.
Once the fish’s stamina runs out, keep tapping right-click to reel it in all the way. And boom—you’ve got yourself a fish! Super simple, right?
