The Sea Leviathan is one of the most elusive exotic fish in Fisch’s Second Sea. Not only does it have an absurdly low spawn rate, but it can also only be caught by one player per instance, meaning competition is fierce. If you’re aiming to complete your Bestiary or just want to flex one of the game’s rarest catches, you’ll need patience, strategy, and the right gear. But don’t worry, I’ve already caught one myself, and I’m going to walk you through everything you need to do to get your hands on this legendary fish.
How to Catch Exotic Sea Leviathan Guide & Location
Before even thinking about catching the Sea Leviathan, you must unlock the Second Sea. To do this, you’ll need to defeat the Cthulhu Boss, which is non-negotiable. If you haven’t taken down this angry octopus yet, go do that first, otherwise, the Leviathan will remain locked away.
Once you’re in Second Sea, open your Fish Radar and scan for a massive red zone labeled “Abundance Zone”. This is where the Sea Leviathan can spawn. Unlike regular fish, this spawn is entirely RNG-dependent, so get ready for some serious grinding.

Forcing The Sea Leviathan to Spawn
Since the Sea Leviathan has no in-game spawn announcement, you’ll need to manually check its location. Here’s how to maximize your chances:
- Use Sundial Totems
- These items reset the in-game day, forcing the Leviathan’s spawn chance to reroll.
- Without them, you’ll be stuck waiting for RNG to favor you, which could take hours.
- Server Hop for Aurora Borealis
- Jump between public servers until you find one with an Aurora Borealis event.
- This gives you a +20% Luck boost, making it easier to spawn and catch the Leviathan.
- Alternatively, use a private server to control the in-game time and reduce competition.
- Look for Pink Blocks (Not sure if it’s fixed already by the time you’ve read the guide)
- Due to a visual bug, the Leviathan’s path is temporarily marked by pink blocks floating on the water.
- These blocks are collidable, so you can jump on them.
- Follow them to track down the Leviathan’s exact location.

The Best Rod & Bait for the Sea Leviathan
Catching the Sea Leviathan requires top-tier fishing gear. Here’s what you need:
- Best Fishing Rods:
- Ethereal Prism Rod → (Best choice) 195% Luck, 40% Resilience
- Free Spirit Rod → (Good alternative)
- Aur of Lagoon Rod → (Another solid option)
The Sea Leviathan has a -90% Progress Speed penalty, so using a First Sea Rod will make catching it nearly impossible.
- Best Bait:
- Shark Head Bait (Highly recommended!)
- Truffle Worm (Works, but less effective)
- Seaweed or Weird Algae (Technically usable but cuts success rate in half)

Catching The Sea Leviathan
Once you’ve found the Leviathan, it’s time to reel it in. But be warned, this fish is a nightmare to catch! Here are some tips to make the catch easier:
- The progress bar will swing wildly, so stay calm and keep tension steady.
- Avoid rapid clicking, patience is key.
- If you’re struggling, try using the Blessed Song enchantment to stabilize your progress.
Once you successfully catch it, your Bestiary updates instantly, logging the Leviathan’s stats and proving your status as a top-tier angler. This rare fish is a true test of skill. Trust me, I’ve been through the struggle myself, but the thrill of finally reeling it in makes it all worth it. Stick with it, use the tips I’ve shared, and soon enough, you’ll be flexing your own Sea Leviathan catch.
