Honestly, I wasn't expecting to summon a crustacean deity, but here we are.

The Lobster Trip Update in Fisch just dropped and it’s loaded with gear, quests, boats, and a whole lot of mystery (plus some crustaceans the size of SUVs). Whether you’re here to catch lobsters or chase the legendary Great Rod of Oscar, you’re in the right place. I’ve spent hours combing through both seas so you don’t have to, here’s everything you need to know to get the most out of the update.

Complete Guide on the Lobster Trip Update (Everything You Need to Know)

Your journey begins on Lobster Shores, a new island parked neatly between Terrapin Island and the Northern Expedition gate. It’s your one-stop-shop for lobster fishing in the First Sea, cages, boats, quests, and secrets all start here.

Talk to the Utility Boats Vendor once you arrive. Don’t be fooled by the default boats, click “View Utility Boats” at the top of the menu to see the four new ones: Small, Medium, Large, and Huge Utility Boats. If you can afford it, the Huge Boat is absolutely worth it.

Next, pick your Lobster Cages! Surrounding the vendor are all the cage types you’ll need:

  • Old Cage – Budget option (150 currency)
  • Rusted Cage – Slight upgrade
  • Premium Cage – Great catch rate, ideal for veterans

Currently, you can deploy up to 5 cages at once. Two other types are locked, possibly tied to future quests or secret discoveries.

How Lobster Fishing Works

  1. Sail to a marked lobster spot (e.g., Snow Cap Lobster).
  2. Press X (or platform key) and drop your traps.
  3. Wait for the green timer, this means it’s ready.
  4. Complete a mini-game (spin-the-dial style) to collect.
  5. Profit.

Some spots offer better yields depending on the time of day or weather, so mix it up and experiment!

New Inventory System = Game Changer

While you’re waiting on your traps, check out the revamped backpack UI:

  • Detailed stats: weight, rarity, type
  • Filters for fish, items, and favorites
  • Super smooth performance with dynamic slot scaling
  • Instant favoriting, drag & drop, quick sorting

Small update, huge quality-of-life boost.

Chef Larry & The Lobster Roll Quest

Once, you’re done fishing some lobsters, head back to shore and find Chef Larry in the little lobster hut. He’s got a craving, he wants a Common Lobster, not one of the fancy ones like Snow Cap or Sunstone.

Find one in the ocean, bring it back, and he’ll reward you with a Lobster Roll. Don’t eat it! You’ll need it to summon the Lobster King later on.

Secret Spot: Sunstone Island’s Underground Area

Before you leave the First Sea, explore Sunstone Island. There’s a mysterious underground cave with tents, campfires, and… no NPCs. Suspicious, right? Keep it bookmarked, it’s likely tied to a future quest or hidden event.

What’s New in the Second Sea?

Ready for bigger catches? Head to the Second Sea (unlocked at level 50 now!). Here’s what to check out:

Netter’s Haven

Your new lobster hub in Sea 2. Here you’ll find:

  • Obsidian Cages (6,500 currency)
  • Fishing Nets (switch your utility gear to “Net” mode)
  • Another Utility Boat Vendor
  • A shrine or altar (whatever you want to call it requiring shiny lobsters + Lobster Roll = Lobster King Boss (spawns in a random location in Sea 2)!
    • Ancient LobsterMythical rarity, found in Sea 1.
    • Slipper LobsterLegendary rarity, found in Sea 2.
    • Rock LobsterUnusual rarity, also in Sea 2.
    • Western Rock LobsterCommon rarity, Sea 2 again.
    • Moon Idol (Secret Fish) – Found only during Blue Moon events in Lushgrove.

Once you’ve collected shiny versions of these lobsters (yep, shiny only) and crafted or obtained a Lobster Roll, head to the shrine. Offer them all, and, if the lobster gods are feeling merciful, you’ll trigger a battle with the Lobster King Boss.

Net Fishing: Catch Schools in Seconds

In Netter’s Haven, talk to Bubba. He’ll hook you up with Bubba’s Net, the highest-tier net for top boats. Net fishing works with a circle-based mini-game and is perfect for farming schools of fish quickly.

I just had a lightbulb moment, Bubba in Fisch might be a nod to Forrest Gump! Remember how Forrest’s best friend was named Bubba, and all he talked about was starting a shrimp business? It lines up too perfectly.

New Weather Events = New Strategies

Three new weather effects spice things up:

  • Tornado: Speeds up lure movement
  • Rainbow: Boosts morning luck
  • Starfall: Unknown, but possibly mutation-related

Use weather to your advantage when hunting specific fish or mutations.

New Rods, New Mutations

The update introduces five fresh rods:

  • Fang of the Eclipse – Special mutation effects
  • Astralhook Rod – Boosts Astral mutations
  • Great Rod of Oscar – Linked to Oscar’s Locker
  • Carrot Rod – Found in Carrot Garden
  • Lobster Rod – Tailored for crustacean hunting

And here’s a quick rundown of the new fish mutations:

  • Umbra (x15) – Eclipse-only
  • Astral (x6) – Glows purple
  • Stardust (x7.5) – Transparent shimmer
  • Oscar (x5) – Red/yellow glow
  • Carrot (x8) – Only in Carrot Pools

Hidden Areas & Puzzles

Keep your eyes peeled for:

  • Oscar’s Locker – Tied to the Great Rod of Oscar. In order to get it, you’ll have to complete a side quest:
    • Find Dead Man Joe on Isle of New Beginnings, near the merchant shop (coords: XYZ = -377, 78.4, -447.4). He starts the Dead Man’s Tale quest and mentions a lost amulet.
    • Travel back to the First Sea. Go to the Grand Reef, and find a broken boat near Atlantis. The amulet is there (coords: XYZ = -3559, 144, 481.4). Press E to pick it up.
    • Go back to Joe with the amulet equipped. He’ll direct you to the Cursed Shores, time to prep your diving gear.
    • Head to XYZ = -340.5, 78.5, 1708.4. Dive into the ocean cave, but don’t forget:
      • Equip the amulet or the decay effect will destroy you.
      • You’ll reach Oscar’s Locker, where you can buy the rod for E$5,000,000.
  • Carrot Garden – Quest-locked, mutation hotspot. To access it, follow the steps below:
    • There’s a hidden poster in Lushgrove at X: 1505, Y: 165, Z: -665. Grab it, then head to X: 1310, Y: 130, Z: -945 and interact with the Carrot Bany NPC near the house.
    • Choose these dialogue options in order:
      • Banana
      • Giant Shiny Ancient Kraken
      • Glub Glub Luck Luck
    • Nail that combo, and you’ll be teleported to the secret Carrot Garden. Weird? Absolutely. Worth it? Definitely.

Mobile Players’ Frustration After the Update

As a mobile player, I’ve got to say, this update has been rough. The glider has become almost unusable: there’s a frustrating delay when trying to activate it, and half the time, taps just don’t register at all. This issue seems to only affect mobile users, and it’s honestly making the game feel unplayable during key moments.

Many of the players in the mobile community have been asking the devs to consider rolling back the inventory UI to the old version, back when gliding worked smoothly and consistently. It wasn’t perfect, but it let us actually enjoy the mechanics without fighting the interface. Hoping they hear us on this one, because we really want to stick with the game.

Wrap-Up

The Lobster Trip Update in Fisch is an ocean of new content, literally. Whether you’re chasing rare fish, battling weather, solving puzzles, or just relaxing in your boat waiting on traps, there’s something fresh to explore. We’ve only scratched the surface, especially with mysteries like the Lobster King and future cage types. So keep your rod ready and your bait stocked, I’ll be back with more deep-dive guides soon.
