All Lost Gestral Locations Guide
Lost Gestrals are are basically missing little companions scattered around the overworld in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. You won’t find them inside dungeons but rather nearby, hidden in clever spots. They add a nice layer of exploration outside the main quests.
Once you find a Lost Gestral, you just need to head back to Sastro at your camp to claim your reward. The cool thing? The rewards scale depending on how many you’ve found so far, ranging from stylish Gestral Haircuts to game-changing abilities like Paint Break (which destroys those pesky paint spikes blocking your path) and even rare crafting materials called Colour of Lumina.
Just a heads-up: you’ll need to unlock some of Esquie’s key abilities, like swimming, coral reef smash and flying, to get all of them. But no worries, I’ll walk you through each location so you can snag them all in order or at your own pace.

Lost Gestral #1 – Esquie’s Nest
The very first one is impossible to miss, right in front of Esquie’s Nest. You’ll bump into this little guy as part of the main story in Act 1, so no worries about hunting it down.

Lost Gestral #2 – Stone Wave Cliffs
When you’re near the Stone Wave Cliffs, take a quick detour to the right instead of heading into the dungeon. You’ll find this Lost Gestral at the end of the path, but watch out for a giant enemy nearby! Sneak past if you can or prepare for a fight.

Lost Gestral #3 – White Tree
After unlocking Esquie’s swimming ability in Act 2, swim over to the island east of Yellow Harvest, where the White Tree dungeon is. The Lost Gestral is chilling close to the dungeon entrance.

Lost Gestral #4 – Monoco’s Station
Once you finish the Forgotten Battlefield dungeon, head just outside Monoco’s Station. Look between two green trees and you’ll spot this one hiding there.

Lost Gestral #5 – Coastal Cave
From Monoco’s Station, swim east towards the Coastal Cave island. This Lost Gestral is near the back of the cave area, where some field enemies roam.
IMPORTANT: You need to unlock Esquie’s ability to destroy coral reefs for this location.

Lost Gestral #6 – Red Island
Southwest of Visages is the Red Island, accessible by swimming. Near some face statues and guarded by two mimes, the Lost Gestral waits quietly, so stay alert!
IMPORTANT: You need to unlock Esquie’s ability to destroy coral reefs for this location.

Lost Gestral #7 – The Reacher
Once Esquie gains flight in Act 3, fly northeast above the Reacher forest. Near a log, you’ll find this Lost Gestral. There’s also a merchant nearby if you want to stock up.

Lost Gestral #8 – Endless Night Sanctuary
Fly to the red forest area east of the map, near the Endless Night Sanctuary dungeon. The Lost Gestral is right outside the entrance between some trees. Flying is a must here, as hills surround the area.

Lost Gestral #9 – Endless Tower
The final Lost Gestral hangs out on a floating island near the Endless Tower. Fly up and grab it to complete your collection.

How to Claim Your Rewards
After collecting any Lost Gestral, make sure to head back to camp and talk to Sastro. He’s usually found in the alcove near the crates, away from the Curator. Based on how many you’ve found, Sastro will hand over your well-earned goodies.
Heads-Up About a Potential Bug (Stuck on 8/9?)
If you find yourself stuck at 8/9 Lost Gestrals even though you’re absolutely sure you’ve grabbed them all, you’re not alone, there’s a sneaky little bug that might be messing with your progress.
In my case, the Lost Gestral at Stone Wave Cliffs had apparently respawned. I had picked it up earlier (before tackling the miniboss or entering the zone itself), but when I talked to Sastro at camp, he still claimed I was missing one. After scratching my head for a while, I went back to check, and sure enough, it was just standing there like nothing had happened.
So here’s what I recommend: If Sastro says you’re still missing a Gestral, go back and revisit every single location, even if you’re positive you already found it. It took me about an hour of rechecking spots before I finally found the culprit. Hopefully this saves someone else a bit of time and frustration!
