Cubic Odyssey is an open world adventure game with a big emphasis on crafting that seems to have taken heavy inspiration from Minecraft. If you enjoy playing Minecraft with your friends, you might have a similar experience with Cubic Odyssey. But, so far, some players seem to find the multiplayer aspect related to matchmaking confusing. Not to worry, we have you covered. In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how it works so that you can play the game with your friends. Without further delay, let’s dive into it!
How to Play With Friends
There are two aspects of multiplayer in Cubic Odyssey that you will need to keep in mind: Joining a game and hosting a game. If you want to play with your friends, you will need to know both of these. So, let’s take a look at them!
Hosting Multiplayer
Starting off, when you load up Cubic Odyssey, you will find yourself in the main menu. Here, in the bottom right corner, you will see an option for session types. There are three session types that you can choose from before hosting the game.
Here is a breakdown of all the sessions in Cubic Odyssey multiplayer:
- Offline
- No player (friends or randoms) can join your session
- Online
- Any player can join your session, including friends and randoms
- Private Online
- Only players you invite can join your session.
So, if you’re looking to play just with your friends, we suggest making a Private Online session. If you’d like to play with friends and fill the rest of the party, you can play Online.

Keep in mind that up to 4 players can join a session in Cubic Odyssey. When you’re ready to host the game, simply press the New Game button.
Once you have hosted the game, it is time to actually invite your friends. To do this, hit the Esc key to open the menu. Here, select the Multiplayer option.

This will open another menu where you will be able to invite up to 3 people. You will also be able to change the game session here, in case you change your mind.
Keep in mind that if you change the game session, any invited players will be removed. In the offline option, the Invite option will not appear.

Joining A Session
To join a game session, you can simply accept your friend’s request in the Steam client. Besides that, you have another option. In the main menu, start by selecting the Join Game option in Cubic Odyssey.

Over here, you should be able to see the option for Private Servers, where you can find your friend’s server. Alternatively, you can also find servers hosted by other players and will be able to join them too if you want!

That’s everything you need to know about multiplayer in Cubic Odyssey. Now you’ll be able to play with your friends, with or without randoms. For now, it doesn’t seem like the game has a dedicated servers option. But as the game progresses, we can expect the developers to add such an option in the future!
