Crystal of Atlan is an MMO action RPG game that features a Magicpunk world ready for you to journey in. As part of the game, you’ll need to build your team and skills to progress. The game has been available in China for a while but is now finally getting its Global release. If you’ve been looking forward to this game but do not have a grip of it yet, we have you covered! In this guide, we’ll be going over everything you need to know as a starter. This will ensure that you do not get overwhelmed by the game’s systems. With that said, let’s dive in!

Ultimate Beginner’s Guide

The Global release of Crystal of Atlan will be on May 28, 2025. As a result, we will only cover the must know systems of the game which includes stamina, dungeons, crafting, magic resistance and gear crafting.

Stamina System

Like most MMO RPGs, Crystal of Atlan features a stamina system. The stamina in the game depletes as you complete dungeons and progress through the story. It is reset everyday at 6:00am of the server time.

You will notice that the game features two types of stamina bars: green and orange. Here is the breakdown of the stamina bars:

  • Green Stamina
    • Stamina of your current character
  • Orange Stamina
    • Shared stamina of all characters across your account.

This means that if you log in to your alt character and use their stamina followed by logging back into your main, you will see that the orange stamina will have reduced. So, orange stamina is a shared resource.

So, you may be wondering why shouldn’t you just dump all the stamina into your main character? Well, here’s the catch.

If you check the loot drop tables of dungeon, you should be able to see options for both green and orange stamina. Using green stamina will allow you to get full loot rewards while with orange stamina some of the better loot is missing.

This is why it is important to make the best use of your alt characters.

We recommend that you use green stamina solely at the beginning so you can get the super valuable loot needed for early game. Later down the line, you can consider using orange stamina.

Of course, this will all depend on how the Global Release will actually function!

Dungeons

Dungeons are a crucial part of the Crystal of Atlan experience. Here is a breakdown of the different types of dungeon content:

  • Story Dungeons
    • These are dungeons that are tied to the main quest
  • Elite Dungeons
    • Harder versions of story dungeons
    • Recommended for farming in the early game stage
    • Can be ran with a party
  • Void Dungeons
    • Requires stamina
    • Drops materials for void gear
    • Void Gear is needed to build up magic resistances which is crucial for the harder content
  • Abyss Dungeons
    • Requires stamina and tickets
    • Tickets or its crafting materials can be obtained from story and void dungeons
    • Drops higher tier gear (includes pink or higher gear with strong magic resistance allowing you to skip crafting void gear)
  • Raids
    • Require ticket and high magic resistance
    • More of a late game dungeon.

We will dive more into how magic resistance entry requirements work later on in the guide!

Crafting Gear

For crafting gear, you will need to select the Equipment tab in the top right of the main menu. From here, select the Crafting Table option in the bottom right.

Here, you will be able to see all the gear that you can craft. As a beginner, we recommend that you aim for crafting Level 55 Gear. This is because it can be upgraded to Epic (yellow) and eventually to Level 60.

In this way, you can extract long term value with this gear.

To craft the gear, you will need materials. To check the specific materials you need, all you need to do is click on the gear. This will show you all the materials you need.

After that, click on the material and hit the blue arrow. This will allow you to see all the sources where you can get the materials.

To help you out with sources, here is a quick summary of where you can farm all the materials you need for specific gear:

  • Weapons
    • All materials can be farmed in Abyss Dungeons
  • Armor (Level 55)
    • All materials can be farmed in Level 55 Void Dungeons
  • Accessories (Level 50)
    • All materials can be farmed in Level 45 Void Dungeons.

As you can see, everything from stamina, dungeons and gear are all connected to each other. A crucial part of that puzzle is magic resistance, which we’ll look at next!

Magic Resistance

Magic Resistance is an aspect of the game that will be difficult for most players to understand after the Global release. This will be confusing, especially because certain main quests will eventually have magic resistance requirements too.

Certain dungeons in Crystal of Atlan have both Magic Resistance and level requirements. For example, the Level 60 void dungeon has a requirement of 4500 Magic Resistance. If you have a Level 80 character but have only 3000 Magic Resistance, you will not be able to play the dungeon.

Besides requirements, having a low magic resistance also leads you to taking high damage from the boss aura in game.

If you do end up having not enough magic resistance, do not panic as this is completely normal. It just means that you will need to shift your focus from main quests to farming gear that increases your magic resistance.

This is why you will need to farm Void Gear. As mentioned before, you can acquire void gear from Void Dungeons and also as lucky drops sometimes from Abyss Dungeons.

So, you will need to farm these dungeons as much as you can, as early as possible. Keep in mind that this will be a bit tough after the Global launch. This is because the Global release will not have established players since everyone will have a fresh start (unlike the China server).

As a result, you won’t be able to get help from experienced players in your party.

Enhancing Gear

Besides crafting gear, you can even enhance it to increase your DPS and make your character more efficient. This will help you out a lot in clearing dungeons faster.

When you enhance a gear, you increase the level. You can safely enhance your gear from +1 to +11 safely without any risk. This means that if enhancement fails, your gear will not drop any levels.

However, after +11, things can get a bit risky. If you enhance after this and it fails, the gear can break and you will lose a level. Don’t worry though, you will not lose the gear completely unlike other MMO games.

You will be able to repair it but keep in mind it can be very expensive. So, early on, you should just try to keep it safe.

We also recommend items that can help you enhance gear. For example, some of them can give you +10, +12 and +14 enhancement instantly. However, these are pretty rare, especially earlier in the game.

So at this stage, you likely won’t find much use for them.

One useful mechanic in the game is how you can actually transfer the enhancement level to a new gear. If both the gears are on the same level, the enhancement level transfer will be one to one. For example, +14 will remain +14 when transferring.

However, if you’re transferring to a higher level gear, there will be a deduction.

Circuit System

Keep in mind that the Circuit System in the Global release of Crystal of Atlan might come with a different name, since this is from the Chinese server. But the system itself should work similarly.

The circuit system allows you to slot items into gears which can help you increase the DPS. You can get these items early on in the game simply by doing story quest.

In fact, you might even have some lying around after doing story quests without even realizing you had these. Be sure to use them as they can boost your DPS by a lot.

You can actually also level these items up, which can give you random bonus stats. For example, the pink tier circuit items can give you +3 random stats.

At the early stage of the game, we recommend that you go with whatever bonus stats you get. As you progress, you will want to optimize these stats and roll for the best ones that match your class.

If you’re having trouble figuring out the class you for, check out our which class is right for you guide!

Costumes

Costumers in Crystal of Atlan do not just provide cosmetic bonuses, but also bonus stats. These can help boost your DPS as well.

This might worry you a bit, since costumes can be bought with premium currency. As a result, the game might seem like pay to win.

However, luckily, you can actually get these costumes with the F2P method too by grinding. You can do this by farming gold and then selling the gold in exchange of the premium currency. You can then purchase costumes using this currency.

In this way, you will also have the chance of benefiting from costumes – but you will need to dedicate time!

We’ll look at the market system next so you can also understand how you can take advantage of it.

Market System

As mentioned earlier, you can farm gold in the game and trade it for the premium currency, and vice versa. This works out really well because gold is the main currency used in the public market.

When you open the shop, you can see that everything is listed in gold. So, when you’re purchasing something from someone, all you need is gold and not some other materials or gear. As a result, it makes trading much more simple and straightforward.

Market in Crystal of Atlan.

In Crystal of Atlan, you can set your own prices unlike some other MMOs.

However, there is a limit since the game does enforce a price range cap. So, it is not entirely free market but you do get some flexibility.

That’s everything you need to know for the complete beginner’s guide to Crystal of Atlan. There are plenty of more systems in the game besides the ones we mentioned, like gear slots and calibration systems. However, you do not want to mess with this early in the game, as they can overwhelm you.

The basic systems we’ve covered should be enough to get your started on your journey for the Global release. We might even get additional other mechanics not seen in the Chinese servers once the game comes out. Hopefully, you have a great experience!
