The latest Arise Crossover update just dropped, and with it came a new legend, Sung II Hwan, aka Dad Monarch. This guy is an absolute beast, probably the strongest Shadow you can get right now. If you’ve been scratching your head wondering how to arise him, you’re in the right spot. I’m going to walk you through everything, from farming the materials to crafting the Hunter’s Key, taking on the dungeon, and even how to boost your chances with Arise Luck relics. Plus, I’ll share a bit about my own run so you know what to expect. Ready to get started? Let’s dive in!
How to Get Sung II Hwan/Dad Monarch Shadow
Let’s not sugarcoat it, Dad Monarch is currently one of the strongest, if not the strongest, Shadows in the game. Stronger than Snow and only obtainable through G, N, or N+ ranked Hunter’s Dungeons, the N+ version in particular is an absolute powerhouse. With 900 SP health and a level 78 cap, this boss isn’t for the faint of heart. But arise him, and you’ve basically got yourself a top-tier carry unit for future content.
To arise Dad Monarch, you’ll need some patience and persistence, basically, keep defeating him over and over in the Hunter’s Dungeon until luck finally swings your way. You get into the dungeon by crafting a Hunter’s Key and using it at the Guild Hall’s Dungeon NPC. Trust me, it’s a grind, but totally worth it. Want the full step-by-step? Keep reading, I’ve got all the details lined up for you!

Required Items for the Hunter’s Key
To face Dad Monarch, you first need to craft a Hunter’s Key. Here’s what you need:
- 100 Common Dust
- 3 Hunter Runes
- 1 Common Key
Where to get them:
- Common Dust can be farmed by defeating NPCs in dungeons and the Infernal Castle (destroying structures helps), but Infernal Bosses are your best bet for farming dust fast.
- Hunter Runes can be farmed by grinding the dungeons and Infernal Castle, or you can sometimes buy them from the shop in Leveling City, or even get them through codes and dungeon boss drops.
- The Common Key drops from Infernal Bosses, including Cerberus.
If you’re curious about mastering the Infernal Castle or just want some solid tips to level up your game, be sure to check out my detailed guide, I’ve packed it with everything I’ve learned so far!

Crafting & Starting the Dungeon
Once you’ve got your materials:
- Head to the Guild Hall.
- Make sure to equip your strongest combat relics, you’ll need the extra damage.
- Talk to the Craft NPC to forge the Hunter’s Key.
- Use the key at the nearby NPC to open up the Hunter’s Dungeon.
- Step into the dungeon, and prepare yourself.

Fighting Dad Monarch (DPS Requirements + Tips)
Here’s where things get real.
- Boss Level: 78
- HP: 900 SP
- Time Limit: 15 minutes
- Recommended DPS: At least 1.5 SPDPS (solo). Ideally, bring a full team of N-rank units if you want a smoother run.
If you’re struggling to solo the dungeon, hop into the main Arise crossover Discord/server, plenty of players are grinding this boss right now, and teaming up can make the run way more manageable.
Boost Your Arise Luck (Crucial Tip!)
Here’s a pro tip for actually getting Dad Monarch after defeating him: switch to your Arise Luck relics right before the killing blow.
Best Arise Luck Relics:
- Silent Veil (Grass Village): +7% Arise Luck
- Flicker Crest (Mori Town): +9.6% Arise Luck
- Paranormal Eye (Kindama City): +12% Arise Luck
Time it well, land that final hit with your luck gear equipped to maximize your chances of arising Sung II Hwan.

My Experience Trying to Arise Him
Alright, real talk, this boss wiped the floor with me the first time. I went in thinking I had enough DPS, and well… nope. Even with my relics equipped, Dad Monarch’s damage output and tankiness caught me off guard. I gave it everything I had, but with the 15-minute timer ticking down and 900 SP to chew through, I couldn’t quite seal the deal.
That said, I’ve seen others arise him with the right relic swaps and solid team comp, so it’s 100% possible. Just make sure you’re not underestimating the fight, and go in prepared!
Wrap-Up: Is Dad Monarch Worth It?
Absolutely. If you’re looking for a top-tier carry Shadow in Arise Crossover, Sung II Hwan / Dad Monarch is the one to get.
