Warframe Ultimate Modding Guide

Jumping into a brand-new game can be quite daunting for some people. There are games out there that have been out for years and sometimes they have so many things to learn that it gets very confusing for most players. Often there are game mechanics that can get be overwhelming for some players since they didn’t play through these mechanics when it first appeared. There are also some mechanics that are inherently difficult to understand, and takes a seasoned veteran of the game to teach new players. In this Ultimate Modding guide we’ll show you how Modding works in Warframe.

Ultimate Modding Guide For Warframe

To begin modding you need to go to your arsenal and select the gear that you want to mod. After that select upgrade and it will send you to the upgrade screen.

From there you can see the mods that are compatible for the equipment on the bottom. To the left of the UI is the stats for the gear and may change when you add mods.

On the upper right you’ll see the Mod Capacity for that specific gear. The more mods you add into it the lower the numbers get, so keep an eye on that as you add mods into your gear. The Mod capacity is always equals to the gear’s level, so the higher the level the more mods you can fit in.

When you place the mods, it will add whatever the mod adds to the stats of the gear. To get stronger mods you’ll need to go to your mod collection or if you’ve equipped the mod to the gear, you can press the mods button at the bottom of the screen to upgrade the mods within your gear.

When you select a mod, you can upgrade it by increasing its rank and thus increasing its bonus through the Fusion menu. Each upgrade will increase the Endo and Credit cost exponentially, so if you want the highest rank of your mod then you’ll need a lot of those.

If you need Endos and/or Credits you can go to your Mod collection screen. Here, select the mods you want and either sell them for credits or dissolve them for Endo. It’s highly suggested that you sort your mods by duplicates so that you see what mods you have a lot of.

Increasing the rank of your mods also increases the mod capacity it uses. To increase the mod capacity of your gear you’ll need to go to Actions. While in the modding menu for your gear, click on Upgrade to spend an Orokin Catalyst. This will double the mod capacity.

Here are some mods that you might want to keep an eye on when upgrading your weapons.

  • Any Mod that increases base damage
  • Mods like split-chamber to give a chance to shoot an additional projectile without using ammo.
  • Mods that add elemental damage

Also remember to check on the symbols on the upper right of your mod slots and the mod themselves. This is polarity. If you place a mod on a slot that has the same symbol, it will halve the cost of the mod capacity. Also remember that if you place it on somewhere that’s red it increases the mod capacity usage by 50%. To modify these symbols or add new ones just go to the action menu again and select Polarization.

Congratulations you now know the basics of Modding in Warframe, now go out there and mod till your heart’s content. Massive thanks to MHBlacky for showing everyone how to mod in the game.
