Weapons Breakdown
There is a primary and an off hand weapon that you will be utilizing for this Demon Samurai build. So, weapon switch attacks will involve you going back and forth between them.
You might want to get all these weapons upgraded to the max for maximum damage. In that case, check out our how to get max weapon upgrade guide.
Primary Weapon – Lashing Whip (Location)
The primary weapon you’ll be utilizing is the Lashing Whip longsword. It functions as both a sword and a whip – enabling it to extend much further than another melee weapon in Wuchang Fallen Feathers.
On top of that, it has very good scaling in Strength and Agility. Additionally, you get access to the Whip Dance skill that gives you extra AoE.
It has one of the best passives which makes the Poise Break temperance so much more effective. Unlike other status effects, you can use this against almost every enemy in the game.
This means you’ll be able to stagger enemies much easily.

To get your hands on the Lashing Whip, make your way to the Mercury Workshop shrine found at Worship’s Rise. It can be found right below the Shu Sanctum.

Once you defeat the priest in the area, you can reach this location and go down the circular path. Deal with the gnome enemies in the area and you’ll come across a wooden platform.
The Lashing Whip can be picked up from there.

Offhand Weapon – Steampowered Spear (Location)
For the offhand weapon, we’ll be going with the Steampowered Spear for the Demon Samurai build in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. This is an absolute powerhouse choice because of the Steam Chain skill – that allows you to unleash sweeping attacks.
However, if you have two points of Skyborn Might, you’ll be able to cast a much stronger version. This allows you to perform a spin damage attack, unleash a fire tornado and also heal your charcter significantly.
Additionally, if you have two stacks of Skyborn Might when using the switch attack, you can immediately deal a ton of extra damage once the spear is equipped. If you have two more, you can switch back to the Longsword and have an even more powerful combo.

You can find this weapon by purchasing it off the Panda vendor. He can be found in different locations throughout the game – including one near the Shu Sanctum where we found the previous weapon.
Once here, use Bamboo Shoots you have acquired to exchange them for the spear. It should be available early on to obtain.

Pendants & Spells
Here is a breakdown of all the pendants we recommend getting for the Demon Samurai build, to help plus up some holes:
- Twin Infact Pendant
- Increases stamina recovery speed
- Can be found on a corpse at the end of the bridge under the Shu Sanctum
- Lifesteal Pendant
- Recover health upon defeating enemies
- Defeat the Reborn Treant and bring the boss item back to Tao Qing to unlock it for purchase
Besides that, you can consider Pendants to increase Stab damage or boost defenses. But be sure to prioritize these pendants.

For spells, you can honestly go with whichever one you prefer. Just make sure to get Temperance, as it is the most important spell that our Demon Samurai build is built around.
It will allow you to Poise Break and also use elemental needles so you can exploit enemy weaknesses.
Some other spells we recommend considering are Divine Might and Divine Ward. They can be used to increase your damage or reduce the damage you receive respectably.

Armors & Socket Benediction
As for armor, you can choose one depending on what you need. If you’re fighting a tough enemy and you need physical damage, choose an armor that boosts it. For example, the Centipede and Ming armor set are really good options early.
Similarly, if you need status ailment resistance, you should go for the Maid or preorder bonus armors. You should be able to find a bunch of these at Merchants.

For Socket Benedictions that you want early on for this Demon Samurai build, here are the ones we suggest:
- Blocking Clash
- Increases the potency of blocks and clashes
- Can be found inside a chest in a shack near the shortcut to the Revenant Temple (close to Shu Sanctum)
- Skyborn Vigor
- Increases stamina recovery speed during Skyborn Might
- Purchase from Wu Gang
- Counter Force
- Increase the potency of counter moves
- Inside a chest in one of the houses near Shu Sanctum

Final Advice
Besides the Skyborn Might cost of Steam Chain, this build really doesn’t have any glaring downsides. And even that is easy to generate. Your goal should be to go into fights, perform a two hit combo to generate your Skyborn Might stack. At this point, go can perform a perfect dodge or block to get the second one. You can then go for a Switch Attack that automatically procs your Steam Chain skill while even triggering Temperance. In essence, Temperance and Poise Break are going to be the main ways of doing damage.
With that said, that’s all for the best early and mid game demon samurai build. Be sure to check it out as it should be able to suit most players, since its a safe option!
