Way of the Hunter is a hunting game that is very realistic. This means that you’ll need now only to shoot at an animal, but also to track it down while its running away. In this guide, we will show you the Best Ways To Follow Blood Trails and explain them to you in detail. Let’s get started.

Best Way To Follow Blood Trails Guide – Way Of The Hunter

First Method

First of all, whenever you see an animal (no matter what type of animal it is) you will need to press X. This will get you the location and tracking of that said animal. Shoot it now and get it killed.

Put a marker by pressing X on that area where the animal was originally first shot at. This is because it is in this area that the Blood Trail is actually going to start. This way, when you will go looking for the trail, you will simply go to your marker. It is a very simple and very effective way.

Now to follow the trail that the animal has left. You will need to know of the 5 animations that exist in the game. According to the animation that the enemy will do you will already know how and where to track down this animal. These are the animations in short:

  • Shot – Dropped Dead – No running, no trail
  • Shot – Animal starts running very rapidly but for a very short time – Drops Down after a while of running – You might need to finish it off, or it will die by itself
  • Shot – Animal starts running slowly but surely – after a while it will stop and lay down on the ground – it might be running again, or it might die
  • Shot – Animal starts running very fast but gets slower with time – lays down to rest – keeps going and stays alive (after a bad shot)
  • Shot – Animal starts running very fast and doesn’t stop until it is away and out of your range (you must have only glanced it, after a very bad shot)

Then after you’ve known about the animations you will need to know about the trail. These are the types of bleeding whether you hit it in different locations:

  • Brain and Spine – red, dead on the spot
  • Heart, Lungs, Artery – pink with bubbles
  • Stomach and Intestines – red with green mixed in
  • Bone and Flesh – red, very little amount of blood.

Now after seeing your trail you will know whether what you’ve hit is deadly or not.

Now just analyze the blood trail that you’ve gotten from the animal. Use the basic Hunter Sense to keep tracking and analyzing the trail. If you lose track of it, you can go back to the marked location(when you pressed X) and start over again.

If you can’t find the next track it doesn’t mean that you’ve lost the animal. It means that the animal is somewhere dead next to you. Keep that in mind.

Second Method

This is sort of a cheating mode, but it still works. The developers didn’t have any intention of you using it this way, and neither should you because it breaks the immersion. But it can help and it’s good if you know bout it.

Open the Photo mode and then just zoom out and look around the entire area until you’ve found the dead animal.

That is it! Congratulations on finding all the trails on your hunting adventures in the future. We hope that this guide helped you and made your hunting way smoother.
