In NBA you have to time your shots to get the ball through those hoops. Players, especially new ones, often just try to get used to the default timing the game gives them. They get better through practice and soon they’re shooting hoops like crazy. Most players don’t even know though that you have settings for shooting as well, much like a lot of things in the game you can customize this to what you’re comfortable with.

When you go to the Options and go to Controller settings you can find a lot of things to customize to your experience with the game, this includes Shot Timing Release Time. You can set this setting to either Very Late, Late, Early or Very Early. This is to set when you want to release the button for the shot, this doesn’t really make the game easier or change the animation, just the amount of the shot meter starts with so you can adjust if you want the shot window to be earlier or later.

The best setting really depends on the person and it’s up to you to test out what best works for you.

Congratulations you now know how to set the Shot Timing release time for your game, probably the most impactful of the settings for shooting in the game.
