Gundam Evolution: Guntank Guide

Bringing a Guntank to a Gundam fight.

The RX-75 Guntank is one of the first Mobile Suits that made you go “huh?” If you weren’t around back then for the original Mobile Suit: Gundam series and are just starting with the franchise as a whole, you would be shocked to find that the Mobile Suit series has some funny, yet really cool designs. One of which is the Guntank. This bad boy was piloted by Hayato Kobayashi and Kai Shiden, both characters from the original Gundam series. So, how does this Mobile Suit play? Is it good? Read on and find out about this iconic Mobile Suit.

Guntank Guide – Gundam Evolution

The RX-75 Guntank is a mid-range unit, with 1200 HP and 2 dash limits, which is very surprising. Considering that this is essentially a GM with tank tracks for legs, it’s nice to see that the Guntank has some mobility to it, despite being just a tank.

The Guntank’s main weapon is its arms, specifically called Bop Missile. In-game the Bop Missile has infinite ammo. However, there is a overheat gauge when firing for a long time, meaning that you can’t just spray until you hit someone.

The main action for the Bop Missile is pretty good, as it allows you to attack multiple enemies that are in your crosshair, dealing the same amount of damage to two or more targets.

But if you want to focus fire on one target, then the sub action lets you do that. With the sub action, you have more accuracy and can deal more damage. This is a much more ideal firing mode compared to the main action, as this allows you more accuracy and more damage. But that’s not to say the main action isn’t bad for certain situations.

For the first skill in its arsenal, the Rush skill allows Guntank to charge for a short time. In this state, any attacks coming from the front of the charge will be deflected, and anyone caught in the charge will get knocked back.

There is also the Tackle option, where you activate Rush and when you are approaching an enemy, you press the Tackle button and Guntank will slam itself into the enemy Mobile Suit.

This will end the Rush early, but you will be dealing greater damage with greater knockback.

Guntank’s cannons aren’t just for show. When activated, Guntank will fire missiles that can damage enemies, as well as dealing AoE damage to any other Mobile Suit nearby. However, the attack is slow, and if fired from afar, enemies will see the attack coming and have plenty of time to escape. So it’s advised to fire near the opponent for greater effect.

Guntank features a passive ability that allows it to revive downed allies much faster. It takes at least 2 seconds to repair a downed ally with this skill, compared to the normal 5. This makes Guntank a great revive unit.

Lastly is the G Maneuver, which is the Launch Core Fighter. This lets you fly around the map, and even detonate itself to deal massive damage to nearby enemies. This is the perfect skill to use when enemies are guarding an objective you need to get.
