Pokemon Scarlet and Violet includes a similar mechanics, and you can claim them in the Mystery Gift.

How to Redeem Mystery Gifts in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
A Mystery Gift is a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature that allows you to redeem codes. It is also how you can connect to a PokeBall Plus.
The codes you redeem can either be a special Pokemon, pokeballs, rare items, or more.
Redeeming Mystery Gifts
If you have pre-ordered Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can redeem a Pikachu with a Flying Tera type.
You can do this by pressing the X button on the joy-con, then selecting Poke Portal. A window will open up; select Mystery Gift.
There are two ways to redeem a gift: Get via the Internet and Get with Code/Password. The first one connects your Nintendo Switch to the internet, and then it will check if you can redeem any Mystery Gifts.
If you select the second option, you must input the code you received. If you want to know if you already got a gift, go to Check Mystery Gifts.
Here, you will have a history of the Mystery Gifts you have redeemed in the past and the date you received them. After redeeming a Mystery Gift, it will appear in your bag or party.
