In today’s gaming market, some gaming laptops would cost you a fortune, but a few of them are also available at a budget price. However, not all of them can do justice to their price. Being available cheaply, you will always have one problem that can ruin your gaming experience. Hence, it is often recommended not to go too low while buying a gaming laptop as it can put a hole in your pocket.
Fortunately, that is not the case with Razer’s new laptop, Razer Blade 15 2018 H2, a high-end gaming laptop with a super quality display and dedicated graphics card to run AAA titles without breaking a sweat. And all of this is available at a price far better than any other gaming laptop at a similar range.
So if you have been wondering whether the Razer Blade 15 H2’s 2018 would be worth buying in 2022, you have hit the right spot. In this post, I have written a detailed review to help you decide whether to pick this laptop or not.

NOTE: Obviously, there are a couple of different versions of this laptop. But usually, these are the specs that all of the major merchants distributing this laptop had. My whole review is for the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2, with these specs.
Design & Display
The first point I will be talking about is the design of this laptop. As a gaming enthusiast myself, I know the concerns of a buyer about the design. What is the point of spending so much on a laptop if it can’t make you look cool in front of your friends? Isn’t it?
In terms of looks, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 has left no stone unturned to make itself look a total badass. With a matte black finish and RGB lights scattered all over the keyboard, the overall design would just blow your mind. It measures 234.95 mm in length, 355.092 mm in width, and 16.764 mm thick. Being a gaming laptop, it is obvious that its average would be more than the standard weight of laptops. That said, it weighs 2 kg but doesn’t feel too heavy and you can easily carry it around in your backpack.
The build quality of the laptop is also superb and its premium metallic build offers top-level protection. So in anyways, you are not going to regret buying this laptop for its looks and build quality as it is just awesome.
Talking about the display, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 sports a 15.6” full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with great viewing angles, superb picture quality, and a 144Hz refresh rate to let you play competitive games without dropping any frames. Usually, gaming laptops are available with bigger screen sizes, i.e. 17” or more, but that is not the case with this laptop. I guess that’s why Razer likes to call this laptop, the ‘World’s smallest 15.6” gaming laptop.’
Performance
The decisive test of a gaming laptop is its performance. To determine how good a gaming laptop actually is, a gaming test is by far the best test to be conducted in order to determine its real strength. And as expected, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 managed to ace this test pretty well.
On paper, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 comes with an Intel Core i7 8750H, a 6 Cores and 12 Threads processor with a base frequency of 2.2GHz, which can be boosted up to 4.1GHz. It is paired with 16GB DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q graphics card that can run any game at 1080p you throw at it. While I am pretty confident that you can play any AAA titles on this laptop at high quality, some might need you to lower the settings to get higher frame rates.
The GTX 1070 Max-Q is a powerful graphics card that is strong and handles most modern games without any issues. And not just games; you can also carry out heavy graphics-related work like video editing on Adobe Premiere Pro or running heavy software easily. Not to mention, all of this power is supported by the high-speed 16GB RAM, which is perfect for handling anything you can think of.
Overall, the performance of this laptop is awesome and delivers excellent performance without any hassles. Since we are talking about a gaming laptop here, we also need to make sure its thermals are good enough to keep the airflow inside consistent. And I can say there are no issues with its cooling capabilities as there are enough vents to keep the circulation of cold air in and hot air out.
Storage
While all aspects of this laptop are terrific, one thing that might disappoint you is its storage restrictions. Unfortunately, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 is available with only 256GB SSD for storage. No doubt, the storage is blazingly fast and will boot up your laptop in seconds. However, when viewed from a gamer’s perspective and considering the size of today’s games, I think 256GB is quite less. Even an additional 1TB HDD would have done the job rather than a full 1TB SSD.
But don’t worry, as laptops are available with extra slots to increase their storage capacity, you can install an additional storage drive to store your favorite games and movies.
Battery & Connectivity
Like all other gaming laptops, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 also offers average battery backup with an estimated time of around 5-6 hrs on normal usage. In the case of gaming, you can expect it to go down. While the battery is pretty average and more or less similar to a gaming laptop’s standards, I would say it is still on a right track. And since it is a gaming laptop, there’s nothing much it can offer in battery backup.
Hence, I always recommend gamers avoid playing games on a battery and instead always keep the laptop plugged in. Overall, I would say that the battery is pretty decent, and there’s nothing much to complain about.
Talking about connectivity, there are a good number of ports available on the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2. You get one HDMI port, three USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C port (Thunderbolt), a 3.5mm audio and mic jack, and an HD webcam. Sadly, it doesn’t have an ethernet port or an SD card reader. Apart from that, it is also equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Is Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 Worth Buying?
We are here in 2022 and this laptop was launched in 2018. A whole lot has changed in these four years, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get your hands on the older edition. Frankly speaking, the Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 is still relevant today and competes well against today’s gaming laptops at a price lower than theirs.
With the latest i7 8th generation processor, powerful GTX 1070 Max-Q graphics card, high-speed 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a sleek design can give you a wonderful experience. Having said that, if you have been looking for a perfect gaming laptop that doesn’t cost you a fortune, you will not regret buying this one.
