Which Dead Space Edition Should You Buy?

Dead Space is just around the corner and boy oh boy, is the hype getting bigger. After going almost 10 years with no Dead Space content, fans of the franchise are excited to finally step into the Engineering Suit of Isaac Clarke once again and traverse the bloody halls of the Ishimura. But the big question here is: which edition of Dead Space should you buy?

Video games nowadays always have to have separate editions of their games, and you rarely see video games fully release in one edition with everything on it. They have to cut out some pieces and put it in a “deluxe edition” to entice players into coughing up a bit of extra money for the game. It’s a greedy practice, but one we have all grown accustomed to.

Dead Space Remake is no different, as there are multiple editions the game offers. We have the Standard Edition, the Digital Deluxe Edition, and the Collector’s Edition. The price of these editions go up the more you read, with the Collector’s Edition being the most expensive, being at 274.99 USD.

You might be asking yourself: “what is included in all of these editions?” Well, we’ll fill you in on that:

Standard Edition

The Standard Edition contains the base game and only the base game. If you are expecting something else, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you only care about getting the game to experience the reimagined Dead Space, then this is the choice for you. The upside here is that it’s the cheapest out of the 3, but the downside is that it does not contain any additional goodies.

Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition is for those who want to spend some more money into the game and get some cool cosmetics. Along with the game, you get 3 new suits that were not in the original Dead Space. You get the cool Infested Suit that shows what it would have been like if Isaac Clarke got turned into a Necromorph in the first game.

You have another suit called Lone Survivor that looks like Isaac Clarke if he was stranded on the Ishimura for years. Lastly, we have the Venture Suit, which looks like the coolest suit to me because of its space ranger-ish look. Along with 3 suits, you also have 2 suit textures, which pretty much changes the texture of your suit.

The Deluxe Edition certainly has some pretty cool additions, but it’s really only for those who want the additional cosmetics, as these cosmetics are not available in the Standard Edition. Meaning if you want to use the Infested Suit or the Venture Suit, then you will need to cough up an additional 10 dollars.

For the hardcore Dead Space fans, there is an edition out there for you (granted if you have 275 USD to spare). The Collector’s Edition of Dead Space Remake offers you the base game, along with a wearable Engineering Suit helmet, complete with working lights, the soundtrack on CD, a Lithograph Print and a Foil Stamped Lithograph Print, 4 Mini Posters, an Ishimura Patch, Marker Enamel Pin, a Metal 4” Marker Statue, and a SteelBook.

This is the complete package of the game for those who want to brag about being a hardcore Dead Space fan, but it is also the most expensive edition, so really think about it if you planning on dropping that amount of cash.

If you are thinking about which edition you should buy, then you should really think about how much you are allowed to spend. Gaming is an expensive hobby, and not a lot of people can afford it. If you do have the money, then go for it, but really think about which edition seems ideal for you.

Do you just want the game? Then get the Standard Edition. Do you want some cool cosmetics? Then get the Deluxe Edition. Do you want a cool Engineering Suit helmet to wear while playing the remake (which is probably not a good idea)? Then get the Collector’s Edition.
